Dannyvandelft Posted December 12, 2020 Posted December 12, 2020 Maybe a silly question, but, how are you "supposed" to sit in the Tomcat? Should you be able to see the nose and the yaw string? Looking down on it or would pilots perch up to take a look? When I sit (in VR) in the cockpit, I can't see it. Am I supposed to raise the seat till I do? How much space is there roughly from the armament panel to your chest? I feel like I'm right on top of it when I first get in. And reset my position more backwards. Gunslinger22 Posted December 13, 2020 Posted December 13, 2020 (edited) From my minimal experience of sitting in the pit, from memory you sit quite high and somewhat forward. This gives you great vision over the nose and through the bars! Edited December 13, 2020 by Gunslinger22 "I'm just a dude, playing a dude, disguised as another dude."
IronMike Posted December 13, 2020 Posted December 13, 2020 (edited) In the sim the seating position is slightly lower than it was irl. Most average sized pilots would sit with their face right infront of the upper canopy rail/ rollbar, whatever you call that. However irl you can duck down, so we lowered it just a tad for ease of use. If you wanted to have it 100% realistic, you'd raise it, but unless you use VR and for some reason enjoy what real pilots likely did not, hehe, I advise against it. In fact a lot of folks I would guess would rather lower it even further, preferring the clear window view over yaw string and nose view for BFM lookup situations. Raven (Elysian Angel) Posted December 13, 2020 Posted December 13, 2020 (edited) Actually I prefer it the way it was IRL, for the sake of realism. I'll adjust the seat height from default if/when needed. I fly in VR, and it's been pretty clear from launch that the seating position is indeed too low: you can easily see that simply by looking down. So every time I load up a mission in the Tomcat, I need to move the camera back up to where it is supposed to be (RAlt+0 doesn't seem to be working properly). Speaking of which, is there a timeframe where we'll have the seat moving up/down animation please? Right now moving the seat looks quite odd since the entire cockpit moves Edited December 13, 2020 by Raven (Elysian Angel) 2 Spoiler Ryzen 7 9800X3D | 96GB G.Skill Ripjaws M5 Neo DDR5-6000 | Asus ProArt RTX 4080 Super | ASUS ROG Strix X870E-E GAMING | Samsung 990Pro 2TB + 990Pro 4TB NMVe | VR: Varjo Aero VPC MT-50CM2 grip on VPForce Rhino with Z-curve extension | VPC CM3 throttle | VPC CP2 + 3 | FSSB R3L | VPC Rotor TCS Plus base with SharKa-50 grip | Everything mounted on Monstertech MFC-1 | VPC R1-Falcon pedals with damper | Pro Flight Trainer Puma OpenXR | PD 1.0 | 100% render resolution | DCS graphics settings Win11 Pro 24H2 - VBS/HAGS/Game Mode ON
DarkStar79 Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 For me the original position we have now feels weird. I always move back maybe 10-20 cm in VR. It seems like a more natural position when you look where you have your seat also. Also the stick position feels strange. It feels to much forward. I think I read something that it should be moved back so you can see the TID better. It’s sad that you have to remove the stick to be able to see the TID. Hope it get fixed soon..Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk

Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk the stick position is laser scanned, not sure where this keeps coming from. even if we moved it back you wont be able to see the TID repeater better. It's just an unfortunate thing that in the Tomcat the stick is infront of the TID repeater. 1 Heatblur Simulations Please feel free to contact me anytime, either via PM here, on the forums, or via email through the contact form on our homepage. http://www.heatblur.com/ https://www.facebook.com/heatblur/
DarkStar79 Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 I mean that the stick when in neutral is very close to the TID screen. I think I saw some pictures where the stick looked like it was more backwards when in neutral. But I dont know thou. You are probaly right..
