Navigation lights don't work without pylons

Tail light is on but the front lights aren't functioning without pylons attached.

You have the additional armour plates installed, these actually cover the front 2 lights.

 

I had this issue myself, and then I realised that the additional armour just under the cockpit glass covers the lights.

No problem, though there's one thing I missed; it seems that either having lights on the hardpoints/nose is maybe something that's one or the other, at least that's how its described in page 197: "The red and green navigation lights are installed on the weapon rack tips, or on starboard and port sides of the nose part of the fuselage (if weapon racks and armour are not mounted)"

 

Which kinda sounds like it's either one or the other, depending on whether or not the weapon racks are installed or not. But otherwise yes, the armour on the nose does cover the lights.

I think you are quite correct, it is pylons or nose.
