ruddy122 Posted December 18, 2020 Posted December 18, 2020 Just curious what the Vc rate you need for an AIM 120C hit Saw a change from one update to another Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] LUCKY:pilotfly::joystick: Computer Specs CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 6-Core 3.4 GHz| GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 6Gb | RAM: 32 GB DDR4 @ 3000 MHz | OS: Win 10 64 bit | HD: 500 Gb SSD
Tholozor Posted December 18, 2020 Posted December 18, 2020 (edited) That's going to vary on your speed and altitude versus the bandit's speed and altitude, in addition to range. You could have a Vc of 1500, but if the bandit is way down low, your missile is going to have to push its way into denser air (gravity helps), but now the bandit has notching opportunities using the terrain. Inverse is the same, but having to fight gravity on the way up. Another thing to consider is the bandit speed relative to yours. Sure the closure rate might be 1500, but if your speed is less comparatively than his, you're at an energy disadvantage for that missile shot, and the inverse being more advantageous for you if you have a lot of energy to expend into the missile versus a slow bandit that can't maneuver. There's no magic number that guarantees a hit.
