Just starting to mess around with Multi-Crew, and I’m curious how people are setting up their controls to make sitting in either seat functional without having to re-map every time.  Specifically when talking about the Weapons release triggers, and ICS/Radio switches that are unique to each seat.

Any ideas for those of us without a mode switch?  Am I missing something?  Basically, it seems to me that I'd want the same switch on my controls mapped to both the Co-pilot and Pilot's trigger, and radio buttons.  But DCS doesn't let me do that.

Hey Helo Guy,

I was thinking about the same thing also. The two distinct DCS (modifiers/switches) may work.

The first is the switched mode, where it toggles the modifier on/off. The problem with that it can loose sync, only good for pilot and co-pilot.

Another option, that should work for all three stations, is assigning two modifiers to a double pole switch with a center off, like the many 3 position switches on the warthog throttle.

You would have to remap all of your buttons of that station because the modifier is always "being pressed" and button presses without the modifier won't be recognized.

Unfortunately you can't map the modifier to change seat position, but you can with something like voice attack, adding a keypress macro once to the same switch.

Disclaimer: I only tested this on the controls page, I hope to jump on tonight and test it in flight.

So it would look like this with the switch positions
Center = Move current station to Pilot, No modifiers, current set-up (voice attack or similar needed to execute the station change on switch release of both modifier buttons)

Up       = Move current station to Co-Pilot, All switches mapped with modifier button 27

Down =  Move current station to Door Gunner, All switched mapped with modifier button 28 (Probably switch to a default side and then another switch for left and right stations)

Hope this works, I tested it on the controls menu, I will test tonight in the aircraft.

Hey Miles,

You'll definitely have to let me know how it works.  Still, this isn't ideal to me, as I would think the sim should be able to differentiate between which seat you are in.  It would almost make more sense for them to have bindings for both seats, although I'm sure some here would want me to walk off a cliff for mentioning it.

+1 on this. I was surprised to see separate bindings for the same (relatively speaking, from the pilot/copilot seats) buttons and functions. Having bindings for pilot's radio buttons that don't work from copilot position anyway is not useful at all. I have one stick, but I can't have the radio there after I switch positions, unless I use some kind of modifier.

There is more to this, but first I wasn't sure. Perhaps it's normal that the pilot extends copilot sights, but somehow I doubt it. Why is there a different keybind for each sight? (Strangely, but luckily, the copilot cannot extend the pilot's sight. 🙂 ) I know these are physically different switches, but the reality should be practically adapted for the simulator. For comparison, this is much better executed in L-39, where two physical buttons with the same function in both cockpits have the same binding (e.g. intercom on the throttle).

This doesn't seem like a feature, this is more a design bug.

Either the buttons should be unified wherever possible (preferably) - working only from the position where I currently sit (this applies to anything duplicated on the dashboards too, such as QFE pressure knob, etc.) - or there should be two separate profiles in Controls Options which would allow us unified settings.

(BTW: Is this taken into account when it's not in the bugs subforum?)
