"Procedure entry point could not be located" after last open beta update

Recommended Posts

After DCS 2.5.6.59398 update I am unable to start DCS. After I click DCS.exe the first window pops up (update check I think), fills up the bar, disappeares and a window with "Procedure entry point could not be located" shows up. The bottom description of this window is a path to DCS.exe file.

Everything is fine when I revert to previous versions. Did a fresh install, cleaning and repair options. Nothing works.

Here you go. That was generated few minutes ago during the launch of the previous version. Then I updated to the latest one and the error popped up as usual. Finally I copied it here. I think nothing changes in it after the unsuccessful start up. I even tried removing it before the error but no newer file was generated instead.

Thank you, but I need the log from the latest version to read the full error message (it's often more detailed in the log).

You might find it as "dcs.log.old" in the same folder.

Here it is. But I don't think this error generates any logs since after I try to launch none of the files in the folder change their date of modification.

You're right: this log is not from the latest OB.

Try to manually launch DCS.exe: go to "C:\DCS\DCS World OpenBeta\bin" and double-click DCS.exe.

Do you get the same error message?

I don't think so. It looks like a system error. Please add exceptions for the following folders in your antivirus:

  • C:\Users\your-name\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\
  • C:\DCS\DCS World OpenBeta\

You were right - antivirus was the problem. I couldn't find how to add exceptions so decided to uninstall it all together and DCS works fine.

Thanks for your help.

I'm using ZoneAlarm and tried turning off both antivirus and firewall in control window but it didn't help. Only full uninstall fixed the problem. Afterwards I reinstalled ZA and DCS still works fine.

Hi All,

I have the same issue as described above (however I'm running the stable game not open beta), after updating to latest game version last night, after I click DCS.exe the first window pops up (update), fills up the bar, then disappears and a window with "Procedure entry point could not be located" the pops up.

I have checked the  ( C:\Users\your-name\Saved Games\DCS\Logs\dcs.log ) folder, log attached. I have tried running DCS from the desktop shortcut and also double clicking the actual exe file, and get the same result.

I run AVG professional I have disabled that and tried to run the game with the same error displaying.

any help greatly appreciated.

regards Rob.

Hi, I don't see any error in your log file. It seems the game reaches main menu, then exits properly. Try this:

  1. Edit "C:\Users\your-name\Saved Games\DCS\Config\options.lua".
  2. Change ["fullScreen"] value to false.
  3. Save and close file.
  4. Launch DCS.

@Capt. Winters Hi, I don't know if you solved your problem but solely disabling antivir/firewall in ZoneAlarm didn't work for me. Adding DCS in the excepsions didn't work either. In the end I had to uninstall Zone Alarm alltogether and DCS started working.

Are you sure? Your log says otherwise:

Hi Flappie,

Found the file and made the edit. the game starts but I can not see any of my purchased content beyond the one map (Chanel map) which I purchased on the day this problem started all other purchased content does not show. I have logged in and out of DCS account but that did not help.

I have checked my store profile and all my modules are listed as owned and activated.

thank you for your help.

regards Rob.

change of information around folder location

Hi All,

I have the game up and running again with all store content now available. I had to completely uninstall DCS, then turn off AVG, then download game and install. then when the game started it found all my purchases and asked if I wanted to install, I clicked yes and it again downloaded the full 81GB of game files (not sure why it did that I thought it searched for already downloaded content). I ran the game and content was there. I then restarted AVG and ran the game again and it was still working. So 170GB of downloads over 2 days at 1.1mb per second... but at least its running.

thank you to those who offered advise. regards Rob.
