They would have to get enough unclassified data. I personally would love to see an older Gripen in game. Or that and a new one. I've seen the promo vids for it and that is one sexy, and capable, looking jet fighter.

I by no stretch of the imagination would class myself as competent in this field but I did a search in the Swedish National Archive's War Archive's inventory database for JAS 39 and got 1187 hits, including English language manuals for the C and D models. I (as a qualified random dude on the internet) would deem it possible to create a JAS 39 for DCS based on the sheer number of publications, presuming a developer could get permission from SAAB.

Full official manual is only a few percent of information needed to make a full fidelity module.

You have to have an information of how every single button works, all DDI pages, their functions, logic behind all avionics system etc.

Next are EM charts or wind tunnel test reports, the whole aerodynamic behavior in different flight conditions consulted with real pilots etc.

PS. Swedish military refused to disclose the logic behind the datalink that's why Heatblur wasn't even allowed to model fighter variant of the JA-37 Viggen. Gripen predecessor.
