New VR User Reporting for Duty

Hi

 

First time here. I am looking to get into new VR experiences and this place was recommended to me. I was referred by a user named flytime. Is there any way to search for that person?

I have NO Idea how to get started— install dcworld on SteamVR maybe?

From what I recall if you're using a WMR device:

 

- Install DCS World. (No need to install on Steam - I use direct install from dcs's website).

- Install Steam, Steam VR and Windows Mixed Reality for Steam.

- Don the headset. WMR should load.

- Launch SteamVR (optional, it should be automatic but first time round good to test that it's working correctly - you should go to the 'steam' home instead of the windows one).

- Launch DCS from the desktop icon. It will most likely load 2D, requiring you to go into settings and tick the use VR option.

- Restart DCS with the headset plugged in and it should start in VR mode...

Since you don't mention the VR headset you have (or gonna get), SteamVR and WMR is NOT needed when you have (or go for) an Oculus headset.

To save you some headaches: if you are using a WMR headset, make sure to launch DCS from within the headset or your mouse cursor won't work with DCS.

Aah - that's why I've been having to Alt-Tab out, then do the Win-Y and alt-tab back in...
