PTT is a Pain...

This push-to-talk setting on servers using Discord etc

Do you admins realize what a pain this is to use? Yeah I get that it’s realistic and all. But.... Most of these add-ons like Discord and Teamspeak don’t accept HOTAS buttons as assignments. And trying to set a HOTAS to do keyboard emulation means remapping everything  for every module!

Discord and TS accept HOTAS buttons for PTT. Constantly hearing other users breathe, cough, munch, slurp or fight with their wife and kids with open mics is simply unacceptable. PTT or bust.

There are several utilities (e.g. JoyToKey) which let you map any joystick/controller button so that it triggers a key press.

 

I have done that so that I can map my cyclic trigger to be a key, so I can do PTT via any system (SRS, TS3, etc.).

You don't even need utilities to do that in Teamspeak. Teamspeak accepts HOTAS buttons from the getgo.

I can see the concern. However when using the voice activation I’ve never experienced this, even in silly FPS games. It is possible to mute your mic

Hey I got Discord to work! I don’t know why but it only accepts certain buttons on my CH throttle.  The hat which I normally have assigned to radios doesn’t work but the mini stick push down does.
