Thank you, good sirs. 🙂

Modules - Damn near all of them (no Christian Eagle or Yak)

System - Ryzen 9 7900X, 64Gig DDR5 RAM, RTX-4090, 3 32" monitors @1440, default settings of High (plus some)

What a wonderful topic to read about a silly little game like this. And, before you yell at me, I'M JOKING! I love DCS and this thread actually IS wonderful. Like Steve Gee said, "Thank you, good sirs!"

The video shows rolling out AT the 3/4 mile. Crap, I need to fly LOTS more circuits!

The Hornet is best at killing things on the ground. Now, if we could just get a GAU-8 in the nose next to the AN/APG-65, a titanium tub around the pilot, and a couple of J-58 engines in the tail...

That's pretty much what I do. As long as I'm on speed and on the numbers at 180, 90 and rolling in the groove.

Also, @ OP:  I don't know at what stage of your training you are but I would suggest getting used to a moving boat with wind over deck, right from the start. (if you're not doing it already)

Things look different vs. stationary or slow moving carrier.

Yeah, I can’t stand the training mission for that reason - stationary carrier makes no sense. I was reasonably confident in my Case I and III recoveries, but a two month hiatus to move into a house & work through a 2020-induced existential crisis will leave those skills badly bruised haha.

All I can say to anyone else reading this is practice practice practice. Way back when I first discovered DCS I made it a point to end every session - regardless of module - with a few F/A-18 circuits around the boat followed by a hook down recovery. As this thread has made perfectly clear there is a lot of geometry going on, and thoughtful repetition through every stage will be the glue that slowly binds it all together.
