Yes. Some server settings are forced to clients, some are not. I'm going on memory here, but I beleive we (S77th server) had ours set to:

Scenes HIGH

and possibly Visible ring HIGH or MEDIUM

16 bit color

Everything else was LOW or OFF with the view pointed skyward at max altitude so that only stars were visible in the screen.

Goya- step in if I'm wrong or missed something..

Do Scenes on High will slow down game when I have forced to LOW (by rename oryginal scenes LOW to HIGH (small file about 3 mb) ?

Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D

To follow what 77_konk said, you can use F10 view and zoom ALL THE WAY IN over an area of water for constantly high fps instead of pointing the view skyward! Other than that we (VTB) use the same settings for our ded server as 77_konk already mentioned.

but if i set for example the visible ring to low will the ones who come on the server be able to play with the visible ring on high

ok in the doubt i've set the same settings as when i play in solo hope there won't be too much fps loss (4400+,3 gig RAM,HD3850 512)

maybe somebody who plays on the server SU-25_jpm1 on hyperlobby can tell if its fine

These settings are quite high for the purposes of a "dedicated" server. If your hosting & flying- then you need to figure out the balance of what you can tolerate for looks, frames and number of clients. UPLOAD is one of -if not THE most- critical specs. This is going to take some trail & error on your part, I'm afraid. Equipment & bandwidth can vary a lot.

For a server make all to Low than the clients can choose their own scenery setting . Myself for example on Low,Medium and High scenery are actually a copy of High scenery in all 3 files that way i fly on high no matter what and the server run smooth with out any trouble.

This is something that should be known well or a sticky.

that's what i did on a first hand but i made this thread to be sure , if somebody knows what's forced to client and what isn't .. maybe a ED team member could answer ..

I think 'scene settings', 'civ traffic' and 'visible rng' are the only graphics settings that are forced. If you want to know for sure, why not join a server and see what settings you can change?

Good idea expresss001.gif , it appears everything can be changed exept scenes and civil traffic so i'll put everything on low exept scenes and traffic , thanks expresss001.gif

By the way- I hadn't even thought about water view. That certainly makes sense. I'm around 100 fps ++ while flying over the sea..

Yea, we get 160 fps ++ on our dedicated by using F10 and zoomed in. Server runs smooth!

And yes, all these settings mentioned are for a dedicated only server. If you use your puter to host & fly, you'd have to set it up to something that works for everyone (incl. your own visuals). :smilewink:

good info, thanks all.

just getting into the almost "dedicated" server myself.

so only scenes and civ traffic settings get forced by the server.

and on your loc al pc making all 3 scene files as a copy of high,

so you always get high scenes no matter the server settings, great thinking.

please give details of where and what files need editing to always get high scenes ?

as suggested by theGozr we need this kind of thing in an official server setup sticky.

and what about load outs?

can you force a gunz only scenario?

is it possible to limit the choices of available load outs in the pull down list?

is there a way to force a certain loadout to all clients, locked by the server or in the mission?

or is it always a clients choice to select weapons no matter what?

please post more server hints and setup tips.

keep em coming for all to benefit.

good to have some fresh input on current thinking.
