VMFA117_Poko Posted June 27, 2008 Posted June 27, 2008 At last I bought 24" LCD (Belinea o.display 4_24" wide). But I have a problem with setting panoramic screen in LockOn unfortunately. I set ratio in LOCFG. All resolution with 4:3 works fine for me but I can't get true widescreen in 16:10 or 16:9. I get error and CTD always at launching lockon.exe. Can anyone help me? My graphic card is little outdated, maybe this is a problem but it's all good in other games... Winfast GeForce PX7800GT - keep in mind i tried many different drivers
Ironhand Posted June 27, 2008 Posted June 27, 2008 I use an older card than you (6800GT) in widescreen without a problem...but I don't use LOCFG. If you are setting the correct resolution with it, however, I don't understand why there should be issues. Have you tried running in windowed mode? Boberro Posted June 27, 2008 Posted June 27, 2008 I use 7300GT with LOCFG and it works without any troubles. Maybe check once again your graphics.cfg or get new one anc check again but I don't think here is problem, coz even 4:3 wouldn't work with old graphic.cfg... Maybe settings in nVidia panel related to LO? 1 Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... VMFA117_Poko Posted June 27, 2008 Author Posted June 27, 2008 Have you tried running in windowed mode? Not yet. I'll try just when I get back home. THX for response. Maybe settings in nVidia panel related to LO?Driver settings should be ok for LO.
Case Posted June 27, 2008 Posted June 27, 2008 Are you aware that whenever you change the options from within LockOn, the aspect ratio is reset to 4:3? If all fails, try editing the graphics.cfg file directly. This is what it should look like with an aspect ratio of 16:10. DisplayMode { resolution = {1680, 1050}; bpp = 32; fullscreen = 1; aspect = 1.6; Interface { resolution = {1680, 1050}; bpp = 32; fullscreen = 1; aspect = 1.6; } Simulation { resolution = {1680, 1050}; bpp = 32; fullscreen = 1; aspect = 1.6; } AVI { resolution = {640, 480}; fullscreen = 0; aspect = 1.3333; } 1 There are only 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.
VMFA117_Poko Posted June 27, 2008 Author Posted June 27, 2008 (edited) Yes Case, I know :). I tried it without using LOCFG as You've shown. Problem is that when I launch LockOn with aspect = 1.6 I always get error and CTD. Am I really first person having such an issue? Well, I think I need to reinstall LockOn then... !!! I've got another idea !!! Maybe this is issue with codecs installed on my WINXP...? Can it be a problem? When sometime ago installed ACE MegaPack Codecs i got similar error. I'll check it later. Azrayen Posted June 27, 2008 Posted June 27, 2008 All resolution with 4:3 works fine for me but I can't get true widescreen in 16:10 or 16:9. I get error and CTD always at launching lockon.exe. Can anyone help me? Is that to say that 1680x1050 or 1920x1200 resolution with a 4:3 aspect works ?? If yes, I have no clue, sorry. If no, i.e. you tried only "4:3 resolutions" (1024x768, 1280x960...) with 4:3 aspect (in order to not stretch the image), that may be the bigger resolution that causes the CTD, not the "aspect" parameter. I mean that, when you increase the resolution (regardless of the aspect setting), LO may "asks" for settings not supported by your graphic card and/or screen. That's a typical cause of CTD issues with LO. What about the refresh frequency ? 60Hz should do well on a LCD, no need to set more. Remember the settings supported by a screen and/or a graphic card are related to : - resolution (i.e. number of pixels) - refresh frequency (in Hz) - number of colors (16/32 bits) If you're close to the limit, and increase one parameter - resolution here - you may want to decrease another one, for example refresh freq. Hope it'll help ;) Cheers Az' 1
VMFA117_Poko Posted June 27, 2008 Author Posted June 27, 2008 Thank You all for help. I made it finally. First I did what Ironhand said - I went for window mode then I changed resolution once again but in game - not via LOCFG. Then close the game, opened LOCFG and changed aspect to 16:10 and check for fullscreen again. Thank You all once more!!!
