Hi,

 

I am trying to gather information for missions on realistic tanker altitudes that are used in real life. So far I have the A-10 for between 10, 000 - 15,000ft? at 220 kts.

 

Does anyone have information for, 

 

USAF fast jet, F-15/F-16 etc?

USN, F-14/F18?

USMC, AV8B?

NATO, M2000 etc?

Russian aircraft?

No idea if it's accurate, but I set the tankers for fast jets in my missions at 20k-22k ft and M0.6.

I had charts for the real tanker tracks of the Luftwaffe over Germany and the Northern Sea. Will see, if I find it on my HDD. 😅

 

Edit: I already found this in the ATP_3342(B)_AAR_FixedWing_Rendezvous:

c. Receiver and Tanker Airspeeds
(1) The tanker flies at the indicated refuel speed for the receiver. This speed is available in the
appropriate National Annex, through the SPINS or arranged between the tanker and receiver
on the ground or in the air prior to AAR.


(2) The tanker translates the indicated refuel speed into TAS for the RV altitude (Part 2
Chapter 1, Annex D, Figures 1D-2 and 1D-3), applies it to the appropriate AOB table (Figure
1B-2) and calculates the turn range.


(3) The receiver should normally fly the procedure at the tanker’s speed (KIAS) plus 20 kts.

We used to take at low to mid 20’s for Tornado at around 280KIAS if I remember correctly, F-4 could be a little higher (up to high 20’s) and around the same speed. Refuelling could be done a little faster (velocity), I seem to remember 315? 
 

All airframes have their own best speeds to tank at, there is no one speed suits all. Same with altitudes, they can be weather dependant, tanker type dependant, receiver dependant.
