Sound synthesis in real time would IMHO eat lots of CPU time, i think they use several loops which can be adjusted in pitch and amplitude.

 

 

As we use the old sound engine we have to use this way. Though good planned synthesiz using separate core seems to be very interesting in the future.

A diesel engine without a tach is a real pain, though. But I guess it's pretty hard not to hear a turbine...

IMHO, sound card can model only different effects (or enhance sound) based on recieved sound from game or video/audio player.

Its VERY hard to hear a turbine. 130db, difference between 25,000 rpm and 28,000 rpm sound the same in the cockpit. You cant hear it on the outside since your hearing protection is doubled up while its running, and your at a minimum of 100' for protection.
