Trigen, had you heard about "Flaming Cliffs 2" before this piece of necromancy? ;)

No strict ghost birds, but I haven't seen any rampaging headless AI's.

Nop no headless AI chickens around :) talking about the other player controlled ones that are recorded on the multi player track and that it shouldn't be the greatest challenge to get those to keep playing instead of just going off into oblivion or as they seem to prefer underground flight with a nice dirt trail.

 

Sorry if i wasn't to clear on that.

 

As i see it its down to taking a real time input at the same time as recreating and playing the track input. cant be to hard to let one be realtime if you can play the stick recordings of 5 player controlled ones in a track already.

Ah, well, I would assume that it's down to the fact that the engine simply doesn't load AI routines for player planes at all. While the track is playing it's still replicating the other guy's input, but when you take control this ceases - and since there's no AI loaded since it's a player bird... boom. :P

 

Might be possible to just let the recorded inputs keep playing, I guess, but I don't know how that code looks under the hood. Might be more complicated than either of us thinks.

Ive asked for it in the wish list a loooong time ago and it got no response lol.

GA was kind enough to voice some support for the idea on that one, but NOBODY ELSE did. lol.

 

I just think its funny as many times as ive brought it up, nobody has ever even made a peep about it, and then now i see this lol.

Any way im glad this is being discussed, it is long overdue.

 

Phantom ability on one PC is desperately needed.

I am to the point where I am considering renting a server dedicated to aerobatic practice for the community.

 

I see Lawndart and Frazier in here, so I was thinking of asking if you guys would be interested in hooking up some good lead plane tracks for the phantom to lead people that want to fly on the server.

 

Im not asking for you to submit your team performance routines.

 

Just good lead tracks for the community at large to enjoy.

 

I think it would be great for the community.

There, that was every single post on the first page here voicing support to the idea. ;)

 

Now obviously, something being a good idea isn't always enough to get it implemented. There's also the ugly business of priority where some features simply have to be left out, lest the product be infected with Feature Creep and never get released.
