DOBBO45 Posted January 28, 2021 Posted January 28, 2021 (edited) Ok so fresh install of DCS Open beta today, jump in the Harrier and start up same as always , 10 degrees nozzle, water off so i release the parking brake and the aircraft shoots off so apply the brakes and the parking brake and its now bouncing back and forth like it wants to go. Now in order to stop this i need 60 plus degrees of nozzle and with the parking brake off it still creeps forward in a jumping manner almost like the brakes are not released. Never had this issue before and have a lot of time in the AV8B and all my other modules are working perfectly, solution's tried so far have been a reinstall of the module, removed my saved game files/LUA, re calibrated my X52 and 3d Pro. This one has me stumped so hopefully some help out there. Edited January 30, 2021 by DOBBO45 Fixed issue
JIGGAwest Posted January 29, 2021 Posted January 29, 2021 I wish I could help. If you could clarify what's happening here. Maybe post a track file? In my experience, the parking brake is a little funky. With my X52 pro hotas bind I sometimes have to press the parking brake multiple times before it actually disengages. Sometimes it will be engaged and not working because the plane is already moving. I believe the throttle also needs to be fully back to idle for the parking brake to engage and disengage. My usual encounter with the brake for me is looking at the parking brake lever in the cockpit, watching it move as I press the bind. It does something like this. PRESS Bind, lever moves forward, then it slips back, throttle forward, no acceleration, PRESS Bind, watch it stay forward then throttle up, plane moves, throttle back to idle. Then I apply the wheel brake and hold it until I'm ready to roll.
Dunx Posted January 29, 2021 Posted January 29, 2021 (edited) Sorry if this has already been discounted... Is it possible that you have the same axis switch bound to two controllers? Edited January 29, 2021 by Dunx sorry, I was thinking about axis while typing ROG Z690 Hero ● i9-12900K 5.5GHz ● Giggy RTX 3090 OC ● 32GB 4800MHz ● Firecuda M.2s ● Reverb G2 ● Win11Pro //// A10CII ● AH64D ● AJS37 ● AV8BNA ● C101 ● CEII ● F16C ● F5EII ● F86F ● FA18C ● FC3 ● I16 ● KA50 ● M2000C ● MI8 ● P47D ● SA342 ● SPIT ● UH1H ● Y52
DOBBO45 Posted January 30, 2021 Author Posted January 30, 2021 Thanks for the replies , i have checked switch bound and discounted that one , the parking brake is disengaging/engaging no problem with my key binds. I will try and post a track file as what i have is a stuttering motion with forward and sideways movement at idle with wheel brakes applied and also if the park brake applied, something is wrong as i am also getting a dive to the right in flight now with trim checked etc. My concern is some sort of damaged or left over file in my system relating to the flight model, i have tried a repair of DCS 3 time and now 4 reinstalls with no joy.
crispy12 Posted January 30, 2021 Posted January 30, 2021 The AV8B now taxis on idle thrust with nozzles pointed back. It's quite annoying.
Wisky Posted January 30, 2021 Posted January 30, 2021 as said above the engine has a very high thrust / weight ratio, so it pushes you forward even in idle. the ‚bouncing‘ you experience is the front wheel drifting of sideways while being pushed forward by the engine. activate your NWS for the front wheel to be locked in place and the bouncing will stop.
DOBBO45 Posted January 30, 2021 Author Posted January 30, 2021 The issue was having was way more than what it was supposed to be doing, however after another very clean reinstall with all mods removed etc my Harrier is back to normal i must of had some file left over from something that messed it up. It now taxis as it is supposed too, it will go forward on idle as does the real aircraft on idle but its all under control now as with my previous issue it was not, anyway what ever my issue was it is now fixed so happy days.
