APKWS - JTAC does not want to lase for me

If I load up my Harrier with APKWS as the only laser-guided weapon, when checking in with JTAC he says "no further tasking available" straight away.

It seems I need at least one other laser-guided weapon (e.g. GBU-12) in order for the JTAC to recognise he's needed for lasing.

I found this because I thought it would be fun to hit targets that JTAC is lasing, rather than do it myself with TPOD.

I take it this is an issue with DCS JTAC logic rather than a module issue, but wondered if anyone has a comment on it.

I experienced this too, but I don't think it was with the AV8 or using the APKWS, I found that if I just carried a TPOD he would lase for me, for Laser spot tracking.

Not the ideal solution but maybe a workaround to try.

I'm not sure what might have been in the particular mission, but in the Mission Editor, there are several options for the built in JTAC as to weapons preference. There is an option for "GUIDED" which always works well for me Now, they SHOULD BE, but perhaps APKWS are not classified as GUIDED munitions in some logic tree, so they will not lase. Bringing a GBU-12 might trigger the correct GUIDED logic.

On the other hand, when I have had the JTAC set for the option AUTO, sometimes the JTAC would ask for GUNS even though I was loaded with GBU and AGM-65E. He would usually LASE anyway (because that is how I set it up) and I could just ignore the weapon and use my Guided ordnance

If you listen the JTAC communication, you can hear how you report to JTAC at the begin that you have [silence] laser guided weapons available for tasking.

Example, if I make a loadout of two APKWS pods and two AGM-65E, then the radio communication goes that I have [silence] and two AGM-65E available.

Then the JTAC will laze me two times the laser and then there is no more laser to be used for marking once two mavericks are gone. If I destroy two targets, they stop laser anyways even if I used APKWS as they count them as two mavericks.

I can destroy multiple APC targets with APKWS as they shift the laser before target is marked as destroyed but just killed, and if I can shift the target in that time multiple times before second unit gets marked as "Destroyed" by Battle Damage assement system, then laser shifting works.

APKWS code is only able to be set with engines off via the kneeboard.  Not sure if there is a workaround, but seems you can only use JTAC lase if you contact them prior to crank so you know the code?
