I just started the quick mission where you're supposed to land on the carrier in bad weather. after unpausing and beginning the flight at 200kph, i went to look at the AP buttons and they're all extinguished. i tried to click all 4 but none of them would light up.

anyone know why the AP buttons won't turn on randomly? is there another switch that needs to be turned on?

Could be your INU switch (behind your right shoulder) is turned off, though if you started hot/midair, then might be you tried using Hover mode/auto hover while either your doppler wasn't warmed up yet or you then descended beneath 4m AGL, which would turn off all the channels, make them flicker until you either killed hover mode and manually re-engaged them or ascended high enough.

Damage can also leave you without autopilot channels.

I never did figure this out, however when I got to the carrier my gear wouldn't come down. So was thinking maybe there was a hydraulic issue, would explain it all I think. Maybe the mission author threw that in for fun so you have to do a belly landing *shrug*

Hydraulic loss, I think especially main hydraulics can lead to loss of the autopilot channels. Interesting mission if they start you in a storm with no/bleeding hydraulics - sounds fun.
Yes. Your heli basically breaks down on that mission.
