badhorse Posted March 6, 2021 Posted March 6, 2021 I keep getting a Master Caution Light and Warning sound for no apparent reason. It will sometimes come on during level flight under 1 g., stay on for awhile and then go out. While it is on, a check of the cockpit can find no reason to account for the warning. Also I am unable to launch from a carrier. Wings unfolded and locked. Hooked up to the cat. Everything as it should be. I get the signal to increase power, but as I do the Master Caution comes on and the airplane just sits there with the afterburners thundering away.
HammerUK9 Posted March 6, 2021 Posted March 6, 2021 Firstly, does the left DDI show anything when the Master Caution comes on? A great many warnings appear there. 1) Home Fuel? If you go into afterburner you'll often get that warning. 2) Take off Trim? If you don't have that set then you'll get a caution when you throttle up, can't remember if that's only an aural alert. 3) Did you remember to Salute? Under the ground crew menu 1
Dragon1-1 Posted March 6, 2021 Posted March 6, 2021 In level flight, it's usually Home Fuel. I don't know what the exact logic of that warning is, but it's there to tell you you're short on gas for where you are and how you're flying. As for master warning coming up on the cat, it's likely takeoff trim. You need to set the stabilizer to between 16 and 19 degrees nose up depending on weight. Also, don't forget to lock the wing fold handle in "spread" position with the mousewheel. If you don't do that, you'll get a warning that your wings are unlocked, as well.
badhorse Posted March 6, 2021 Author Posted March 6, 2021 Thanks for the quick replies. Yes, the trim is correctly set per the weight of the airplane, wings are spread and locked. The DDI screen shows all the boxes open even when the Master Caution comes on. A view with F2 shows a good hook up to the catapult. Since it comes on while I am increasing throttle I check the Engine page and both engines are looking good. There is just no indication why the light is on. It is my understanding that if you go to afterburner you don't require the salute. But to be sure, I've tried it both ways. Still won't launch. I believe it is somehow tied into the Master Caution Light being on, it just can't find the reason it is coming on.
badhorse Posted March 7, 2021 Author Posted March 7, 2021 I think the problem has been solved. I'm just not sure how. As I mention before, I tried with and without the salute. When I tried the salute before I used the keyboard commands. I tried mapping the control to a switch on my throttle control and did the rest of the setup as before. This time, the launch went as it was suppose to. I repeated it and once again, with the salute mapped to a switch it worked. Thanks Hammer and Dragon for the assist. 1
HammerUK9 Posted March 7, 2021 Posted March 7, 2021 Glad you've got the launch working If you're still getting the Master Cautions any chance you could save a track of it and upload?
Foka Posted March 7, 2021 Posted March 7, 2021 If you get MC read info on the left DDI (most cases) 2 bottom lines. It always says you what's wrong.
