Azdack Posted March 10, 2021 Posted March 10, 2021 Hello. I'm a newbie in DCS. I built my first simple single missions with warbirds (spitfire) and flown them with much pleasure but after a few minutes I had an awful lag flying the mission for several seconds. Then the fluidity came normal again but the lag came back again too. I have a Nvidia Geforce 3070 and a i9 CPU 3.6GHz. DCS is on my SSD samsung 970EVO Plus 2TB with 1.29 To free. Checking task manager I could notice that DCS is using all CPU available. That lag is quite strong making the game unplayable. I tried to reduce system settings into the game but lag keeps going on. Any help? Thanks in advance for answer.
3WA Posted March 10, 2021 Posted March 10, 2021 (edited) Make sure your DCS copy is on a fast drive ( preferably SSD ). Check. Now, make sure your pagefile (virtual memory ) is also on your FASTEST drive. Critical if you don't have much RAM memory. My pagefile is on my C Drive SSD, which is my fastest drive. Really sounds like a virtual memory issue bottlenecking DCS. If that doesn't work, start lowering your graphics settings. DCS is still pretty CPU bound, and still not multicore capable. I have a 7 year old computer and play on all low. Get 30 - 100 fps. Edited March 10, 2021 by 3WA
Flappie Posted March 10, 2021 Posted March 10, 2021 @AzdackIf what 3WA suggests doesn't fix your issue, please attach your dcs.log file ( C:\Users\username\Saved Games\DCS...\Logs\dcs.log ). ---
Azdack Posted March 11, 2021 Author Posted March 11, 2021 @3WA : thanks for your answer. Well I have one single SSD and then both DCS and pagefile are on that SSD. Then into the game I configure the graphic settings to medium. With my RTX 3070 the game's stil nice to play. I made two single missions with no object neither vechicles or AAA on the ground and kept the planes Ai flying with orders "orbit" and "engage" - simple dogfight - in that way my FPS are good around 80/140. I will add some ground units to see until where the FPS are good before falling down from 120/130 to 10/20 sometimes 7/8. In single dogfight the game is playable. @Flappie. Thanks for your answer too. Joint the files you asked. I you can help...thanks. dcs.log dcs.log.old
Flappie Posted March 11, 2021 Posted March 11, 2021 Thank you for the logs. Please try to fly a Su-25T instant action mission over Caucasus. Activate autopilot (H) if you don't want to pilot the jet and let DCS do its thing. Do you sttill have stutters? ---
Azdack Posted March 11, 2021 Author Posted March 11, 2021 I’m really a newbie! Icould configure my commands for the spit but Su-25t is bloked, keyboard and everything...i have to find out how to unblock the commands for Su-25t before flying that plane automitacally to see if there are stutters...
Flappie Posted March 11, 2021 Posted March 11, 2021 I'm currently recording a long track so you won't have to mess with controls to test DCS stability. Standby. ---
Flappie Posted March 11, 2021 Posted March 11, 2021 (edited) Here you go. Download the attached track below, place it into "C:\Users\userame\Saved Games\DCS...\Tracks", launch the game, click "Replay", then load my track. See if you're getting stutters. Azdack Posted March 11, 2021 Author Posted March 11, 2021 Hi Flappie thanks. Last news : I've built a mission with 18 Ai planes Spits and 109 only two AAA on the ground, settings medium and I had....no stutters. Regarding the Su-25..there is a folder in user/gameplaid/DCS/input/Su-25...called TrackIr with a TrakIr file. If I put that file out of the folder...TracKir with Su-25 works. By the way the same folder for Spit is empty too.. Now my probleme is to set the automatic flight or automatic pilot in Su-25. My keyboards kee don't work...impossible to make the Su-25 flyable alone...I've seen a tuto for automatic pilot but not simple for a player as me who doesn't know anything to jets... Thanks
Flappie Posted March 11, 2021 Posted March 11, 2021 Don't you bother with the Su-25T controls, just download and replay the track I've attached above. I've sent your my Discord id in a private message. Feel free to call. ---
