I have always wondered how one climbs the ladder of success in DCS. How does the promotion system work?? Is it based in flight hours alone?? Is it based on kills?? or maybe a combination of both??? Anybody know??

Hello there,

DCS World leans more towards a sandbox environment, and as such there is no "ladder of success" other than the process of learning to fly and fight in one or more aircraft. I think what you are referring to is the logbook feature, which records your flight hours and other statistics. However the logbook is inconsequential because it doesn't log your multiplayer hours, and doesn't effect your virtual piloting in any meaningful way. You'll be promoted within the logbook as you gain more experience, but again, it's really just for gazing. Nevertheless I do enjoy looking at my singleplayer statistics every now and then.

There is a points system per unit destroyed, the points per unit are in their lua files, not sure what the rank thresholds are though, probably around the same place in the files, the luas are easy to read, if you are interested have a look. You can of course simply change them to suit.

Yes. Tresholds are: 15h, 30, 60, 120, 240 (Colonel is highest rank)
