As the title states, chaff count is cut by 10 when ALE-39 is set to 30F 30C and 20F 30C. LAU-138 is set to be loaded with chaff, so chaff count in the jet should add 40 onto the ALE-39 chaff count.

I verified this by loading the ALE-39 in the ME, hopping in the RIO seat, and observing the chaff and flare count. As it looks, only the chaff count is effected.

I think the LAU holds 2 chaff for every 1 flare? But smaller in size. Could this be the issue? It counts every two as one?

Shouldn't be, because it counts perfectly for every other ALE-39 loadout. One of the L10 or R10 in the ALE-29(The chaff/flare dispenser ports in the beaver tail) is not being filled

Weird. But then again, the way CM are loaded in the F-14 is a bit un-intuitive to begin with.....

@captain_dalan

LAU is independent from ALE and adds 40 "normal" chaff (160 small ones) no matter what.  Each impulse release 4 chaff (but they are 1/4 size) per launcher, so when they are on both sidewinder pylons, thats why you drop  2 "normal size" chaff in same time.

@BreaKKer

If anything is broken it should be L10, as R10 should always be set to C as its linked with LAU launcher. R20 then acts like "R30" working for both R10 and R20 ALE sections

PS

How you got 20F 30C? Did you meant 20F 40C?

Hmm I did my own testing and definitely is something missing. in 50F 10C + 40C setting you get actually 48 F, so 2F short.

I found the problem here. In configurations where Ale -39 has 30 flares or less, (40 flares 20chaff and up works fine), there is a moment where both ale-39 and LAU launchers deploy chaff at same time for 10 impulses, in effect launching 3 chaffs in same time (2 from LAU and 1 from ALE).

ALE 39 launching one chaff per impulse thats correct

LAU launching 2 chaffs per impulse thats correct

Both LAU and ALE launching chaff per one impulse for 10 times - thats a bug, unless thats how it is in real aircraft

Thats the reason why we end up 10 chaffs short. All testing was with 60 flares 140 chaff in rearming window, only ground crew ALE ratio changed

BTW Jester still doesn't know how to change countermeasure loadout in CM program panel, so you always stuck with default 60 flares 40 chaff when flying with him. Is it possible to teach him how to do it?
