shake307 Posted March 18, 2021 Posted March 18, 2021 (edited) So, I am just starting the Oilfield Campaign and ran into a confusing thing, at least for me. Maykop-Khanskaya NDBs for the outer and inner markers are the same frequency. Outers are both 289 and inners are both 591. Attached is the screenshot of them. I see they both have a suffix of a letter or two. What does that mean and how do I get the Mi-8 to distinguish between the two? Thanks for any help. Ramsay Posted March 19, 2021 Posted March 19, 2021 (edited) Only one pair of NDB's will be active at any one time, which pair depends on the active runway i.e. ATC/wind direction. The different letter suffix are their morse ID's, so *you* the pilot can confirm the correct runway/beacon is active i.e. • 289kHz RWY 22 outer marker = RK = ".-. -.-" • 289kHz RWY 04 outer marker = DG = "-.. --." From a game play perspective, mission winds are setup so ATC has the correct runway/NBD's active, so it's not something you'll usually need to worry about outside of dynamic weather or mission making (DCS's 2.5.x ATC can desync the active runway and NDB for light (1-3 knots) headwinds i.e. ATC will say to use RWY 04 but activates the NDB's for RWY 22).
