WelshZeCorgi Posted March 22, 2021 Posted March 22, 2021 So I've been noticing something and would like to get more info on it. So if a track gets broken, the PH continues following that broken track on track hold, then goes active when it is told to as if the broken track was the real deal. So the obvious benefit is that, if the bandit ends up being near the broken track when the PH goes active, there is a chance that the PH will pick up and home in on the bandit, despite originally going after a broken track. Thing is, I have yet to see a single instance of this happening. (In multi-player anyways) once the track is broken, there is a 0% or near 0% chance of the PH going after the bandit, by my experience. Does anyone know if this feature is working and what are the limits? How close do the bandits have to be to their broken tracks for the PH to find them?
near_blind Posted March 22, 2021 Posted March 22, 2021 It's not 100%, but I've absolutely seen a Phoenix on a correlated track find its target. It's much lower PK because the missile is generally out of position and due to how PN works right now will take an almighty bite towards the target, bleeding most of its speed. The bandit needs to be inside the missile's radar range and cone, the specifics of which I don't remember off the top of my head (10 NM and 40 degrees maybe? I'm sure someone will correct me). Obviously if the target's path radically deviates from where the AWG-9 thinks the target will be, the missile probably isn't going to be in a position to acquire it. 1
Prez Posted March 25, 2021 Posted March 25, 2021 It obviously depends greatly on how early the track is lost. A track lost 30 seconds prior to timeout is going to have a lot less success than a lost track only a few seconds before the missile goes pitbull. Honestly, I would say that unless you're shooting at someone on auto-pilot or an AI without RWR, you should consider anything with more than 10 seconds of flight time until pitbull a dead missile. There's just too much room for error. However, I have seen memory mode correlations work out pretty well as disappointing as it is to see that lost track come up even moments before a pitbull activation.
