Scotflieger Posted April 9, 2021 Posted April 9, 2021 I have been having great difficulty flying DCS especially in Multiplayer mode. My system would repeatedly freeze for 5-15s with no control and leading to multiple crashes when the system unfroze with the aircraft in dangerous attitudes. It appeared to happen when other users were on line, when I was approaching carriers or changing avionics modes. I searched high and low on the forum and Google for possible solutions. I reduced my settings to very low and removed my extra monitors. It was a suggestion about using SSDs instead of HDDs that lead me indirectly to an answer. I had been using the Task Manager but it was the Resource Manager that point me to the problem. My DCS, MSFS2020 and XP11 were installed on a fast HDD. I had no issues with the other flight simulators, only DCS. When DCS was freezing the HDD was going to 100%. It appears that a process linked to MSFS2020 doing some licence/content verification was the cause. I uninstalled DCS and did a clean download/install to my SSD C drive and the problem has disappeared. I am even able to use DCS in high (but not extreme) settings.
Scotflieger Posted April 12, 2021 Author Posted April 12, 2021 (edited) Further to my post above, it turns out that the HDD was failing and has now been removed from my system. Edited April 12, 2021 by Scotflieger 1
