Hi community~ Just a new kid on the block Lock On~

I fly the Eagle most of the time since it's one of my fave jet fighters.

Anyway enough of my introduction.

I think i have a slight graphical problem. When i'm in 16-bit, the environment especially the sky looks ugly with bands as seen in my screens

my current PC specs are

Windows XP 32-bit

160 GB hard drive

Intel Dual core 1.80 Ghz each

Nvidia GeForce 8400 GS

DirectX 9.0c

HD Audio rear input

If i use the 32-bit colors in Lock On, the game crashes into my desktop so I'd rather have it in 16-bit.

Thanks for any help :)

I run the game in 32bit. For me water doesn't look like that bad (looks fine) but when up high I can see bit of distinct shades of blue in the sky... not that bad but I can see some. Simply try running in 32bit instead.

Sorry for the slow reply, been busy lately~

the problem is that when i'm on 32-bit colors in Lock On, the sim would crash back to desktop~

When on 16-bit, it doesn't.

I have a Lock On Gold CD. My installation process as follows:

First i installed Lock On 1.01

Second i installed Lock On Flamming Cliffs V 1.1

Third, I then applied the Lock On 1.12B Patch

That's the order of my installation.

Will it crash on every mission you try to load or possible you try only one mission... see in most cases lockon will crash if you have water setting set to High or Very high and you have overcast in weather settings... check that this is not what's causing the game crash, if yes just run water on Medium settings.

yea with his rig, he shouldn't be running on very high.

Also, he wasn't suppose to install the 1.12B patch, since he has XP. He should be on the 1.12A patch, But this shouldn't really cause it to crash.

anyway, i have a side question.

Are the graphics supposed to look like that with bands in 16-bit when using Nvidia cards? (refer to my pic :) )

Yeah pretty much... reason is when in 16-bit you get less number of shades of colours which is why you can see those distinct gradients of colour

I just find it odd. About last month my older PC was a P4 2.4 ghz and had an ATI 9200 Radeon.

I ran Lock On in 16-bit settings. The "banding" was not visible enough in that older PC to make the color shades look ugly

Anyway, I'll just reinstall

Just a thought...what is your desktop set to? 32 or 16 bit? I know that sometimes programs don't like it when you try to run them at a setting different than your desktop.

Can you run LOMAC at 32 bit while your desktop is at 32?
