King39 Posted April 21, 2021 Posted April 21, 2021 Wanted to go back to 2.5 with this mission to prevent any backward compatibility problems (which occurred). Now, 2.5 gives me a warning when it attempts to open and then stalls when trying to open forcing me to shut down DCS through Task Manager. If anyone knows a way to make a mission backward compatible I would surely appreciate it.

You can't .. the new Mission Editor saves missions using MIZ version 19, while the old DCS 2.5.6 used version 18, so not possible to open the new format on the old Mission Editor. You could try to use Notepad++ on the "mission" file that's stored within the MIZ file, and manually search for ["version"] = 19 and edit that to 18; but I'm not sure if just that edit would allow to open the mission correctly on the older DCS. A better approach would be to use a backup of the MIZ, but many times the users don't do backups so not always an alternative. May I suggest saving your Missions on a cloud drive that supports versioning .. that way you can always go back to every saved version of your Mission, like this: You can also use the Mklink /J windows command to have this folder show up at /Saved Games/DCS/Missions/ .. so that it is easily reachable from within the Mission Editor.
