343KKT_Kintaro Posted May 3, 2021 Posted May 3, 2021 Team Fusion Simulations is using the TrueSky software to implement new clouds in "Cliffs of Dover". What about DCS World 2.7? Are our new clouds made with TrueSky too?
pimp Posted May 3, 2021 Posted May 3, 2021 I highly doubt it. ED rarely uses 3rd Party software. The only other software I can think of is Speed-Trees. Most of everything they implement is in-house developed. 1 i9 14900k @5.6GHz NZXT Kraken |Asus ROG Strix Z790 A-Gaming | Samsung NVMe m.2 990 Pro 2TB | 64GB DDR5 6400MHz EVGA RTX 3090 FTW3 Ultra | PiMAX CRYSTAL LIGHT | HOTAS Warthog | Saitek Flight Pedals
343KKT_Kintaro Posted May 4, 2021 Author Posted May 4, 2021 Thank you pimp (funny nickname). Any official response?
Dunx Posted May 4, 2021 Posted May 4, 2021 You can check yourself, search for "Simul*.dll" files in DCS folders. There are three API flavours for TrueSky; Unity, Unreal and Standalone. Knowing DCS is not using Unity or Unreal it could only use Standalone. You can also download TrueSky API yourself. 1 ROG Z690 Hero ● i9-12900K 5.5GHz ● Giggy RTX 3090 OC ● 32GB 4800MHz ● Firecuda M.2s ● Reverb G2 ● Win11Pro //// A10CII ● AH64D ● AJS37 ● AV8BNA ● C101 ● CEII ● F16C ● F5EII ● F86F ● FA18C ● FC3 ● I16 ● KA50 ● M2000C ● MI8 ● P47D ● SA342 ● SPIT ● UH1H ● Y52

Thank you Dunx but I'm not sure if I got it... Where exactly have I to have a look when looking for these API files? What folder or folders?
Dunx Posted May 4, 2021 Posted May 4, 2021 (edited) I searched the entire DCS installation folder hierarchy. EDIT: BTW, you can google "trueSky SDK documentation" to get information about the DLLs needed for the API. The problem is I'm not competent enough to see relations between files, so I won't know if whether or not a DCS file was implemented to make TrueSky work in the game.
Dunx Posted May 4, 2021 Posted May 4, 2021 I did not find any evidence of the trueSky API in DCS. 1 ROG Z690 Hero ● i9-12900K 5.5GHz ● Giggy RTX 3090 OC ● 32GB 4800MHz ● Firecuda M.2s ● Reverb G2 ● Win11Pro //// A10CII ● AH64D ● AJS37 ● AV8BNA ● C101 ● CEII ● F16C ● F5EII ● F86F ● FA18C ● FC3 ● I16 ● KA50 ● M2000C ● MI8 ● P47D ● SA342 ● SPIT ● UH1H ● Y52
