I have been running multiple monitors for years.  I JUST got a Reverb G2 and am pretty happy with it.  Still have a ways to go figuring out all the settings, but it's coming along nicely.

That said, I plan to continue running the game on my monitors usually, as stuff in-game (VR) seems oddly small and well... I can simply see way better on the monitors anyway.  The G2 is sort of my go-to novelty at the moment.  My monitors are fairly good sized (31.5 & 34) so, I'm sure I'm spoiled.  However:  After installing the G2, my "Second" monitor will no longer respond.  It's as though I've lost all but the DP port my primary monitor is running on.  I've tested every combination, including the HDMI ports... nothing.  The only way the second monitor will respond is if I take the DP cable from the existing primary and plug into the secondary (which... makes it the primary).  NONE of the other ports work now... UNLESS the G2 is plugged-in (and then the G2 works fine).  It's not like I want to run multiple monitors WHILE the G2 is plugged in, but I can't even do it when I unplug the G2.  (at first, the other monitor was "showing" in the NVIDIA control panel and Settings/Display... but has since disappeared and I can't get Windows to detect it).

So the only thing I haven't done is uninstall anything.  I'm currently assuming if I uninstall the G2, and/or WMR & SteamVR, all will go back to normal and I'll have my multiple monitor setup back.

Am I correct?

See here for how to disable virtual monitor pre-allocation that WMR does.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/mixed-reality/enthusiast-guide/using-microsoft-edge#monitor-and-input-handling-issues

Should take care of it for you.

I run two monitors and it would always mess with them, till I ran across the above and that took care of it for me.

Unfortunately, I already tried that having looked at some "Speedy" guys fixes/optimizations (which I can't freekin find now, confound it!). Still nothing from the second monitor... but it's acting (Win10/Monitor/Cable... who knows at this point).   I think I'm going to remove the Nvidia drivers/software and reinstall.  That's about all I have left, I think.

Thank you dburne for responding.

So, after chasing this infuriating issue for 3 freeking days.... it was the DP cable plug all along.

SO, should anyone have (or plans to get) a Samsung G5 UltraWide, know that you don't just have to "firmly seat", or "push harder than normal" to connect to the DP port.  It's more like, "Set to RAMMING speed".   And don't think I didn't (try to) reconnect a dozen or more times... and I DID use more force than I thought was necessary.  Tonight I happened to be in a position (all leaned over and looking at it as the port sort of hidden and VERY tightly fit) to SEE it, I saw the problem and recalled it being somewhat fussy the first time I plugged it in.

<sigh>

Oh and FWIW... My other montior is an MSI Optic AG43CQ.  About 4mo ago it started getting all blotchy and full of lines.  Only remedy I could figure out was to lower the refresh and disable Freesync... and that didn't work well at all.  The monitor still did it every time I started the computer.  The monitor acted like it needed to "warm up".  This hasn't happened since I installed the G2... and I even maxed the refresh back.

Go figure.
