maxTRX Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 I was just wondering how are the beta testers tasked. Do they just jump on whatever they wish to test or are they given specific areas to work on? I'm hoping that each tester is given a priority to test specific areas assigned to them, immediately notify 'someone' if problems are encountered then they can feel free to 'play around' with any other aspects of the game. The last OB update really got me edgy... to say the least. The first day or two I played with SLAM-ER's and things were going fine, it was somethin new and it was WORKING Then today, it was time to play with both Tpods and Mavs and I was disgusted. It's all out of whack. Same with A/A radar, w/o going into specifics. I checked the bug forum for the Hornet and it seems like some players spotted some of these game breaking bugs so, that part is good. Well, I'll just shoot SLAMERs and do carrier ops for the next...
JetCat Posted June 5, 2021 Posted June 5, 2021 Most of the airplanes are WIP work in progress (or beta-status) and many regular videogames are released without bugfixes too. And this is not a bad thing, I was two years active in the CD Project Red forum and helped to bugfix many little details in The Witcher 3 One could say we gamers (or virtual pilots) are all beta-testers and I consider it my duty to notify the developers about all bugs I can personally find in a software product hoping to get them fixed helping to create the PERFECT masterpiece of digital arts. If I cannot convince the developers to bugfix a game or software product I head over to the modding community seeking for help, or try to bugfix a problem by myself (unfortunately this is limited to texturing and simple scripting, I am not as good as many modders out there.)
Tholozor Posted June 5, 2021 Posted June 5, 2021 Playing on the Open Beta branch is basically it's own invitation to freely report bugs as you see them if they haven't been reported already. Just make sure it's a proper report. maxTRX Posted June 5, 2021 Author Posted June 5, 2021 I understand that perfectly. I was just trying to get some idea on the specifics of closed beta testing. Is it done at random? The testers get the build and test whatever they want or do they have narrow areas of testing that needs to be done by each group before the build is thrown at the rest? To me it looks like the devs bypass the closed group altogether sometimes. I've been around this stuff for while and got used to flexible time constraints and reoccurring bugs, etc. It's just... once in a while things get a little out of hand.
