Before using a loft, I would try to build it with the symmetry modifier. Basically go into vertex mode, select and delete the vertices on one half of the object (keeping the center line of verts) Add the symmetry modifier, and configure so it mirrors properly. This way you only have to edit one side of the object. Everything you do will be mirrored over. It makes life much much easier when modeling a symmetrical object like a aircraft.

that is a good advice from grimes, but everybody has to figure his own best way. i for example modelled everything from one box, which makes the development time such a pain in the budd. but when you go for detail like the gunside and the refuel hatch you have to be sure that you saperate the 2 sides again so that you do not model gun and refuelhatch for example equally on both sides at the same time
