Wing Posted June 16, 2021 Posted June 16, 2021 (edited) An interesting request, but a very common part of USAF daily ops and procedure at Andersen AFB. Will ED model the "birdbath" in between both runways at Andersen? Corrosion is a HUGE deal in the pacific theatre, within the Marianas islands. USAF makes this standard procedure to taxi through the birdbath after touchdown prior to taxi to parking. "When this rinse is not conducted regularly, the costs and time to replace parts and grind down corrosion is astronomical when the aircraft comes back to depot," "Once the rust starts happening, it has to be ground out or else it will keep growing, even if the aircraft goes to a less humid location." The birdbath is vital through its sophisticated, cost efficient and earth friendly system, the birdbath will assist in keeping U.S. DOD and U.S. allied nations' aircraft operational and ready while deployed to Andersen. smire666 Posted June 16, 2021 Posted June 16, 2021 Imaginable as e.g. linear chimney smoke effect across the TWY
Wing Posted June 30, 2021 Author Posted June 30, 2021 Update on this, Marianas looks great by the way! Birdbath should go here: As you can see, the 4 water pumps shown 1 www.v303rdFighterGroup.com | v303 FG Discord
SmilingBandit Posted July 11, 2021 Posted July 11, 2021 ED just needs a way to NOTAM it as inoperable for being clogged with frogs again. 2
Tank50us Posted July 19, 2021 Posted July 19, 2021 About the only way I can see this working is if the map has a built in trigger zone that activates the water as a plane gets close to it under a certain altitude, but it would be quite cool to see nonetheless. 1
J-1775 Posted October 23, 2021 Posted October 23, 2021 Before installing a bird bath DCS must bring back the birds! Well, part of this is meant serious: There are no birds around the coastlines of the new northern islands...
