Frederf Posted June 20, 2021 Posted June 20, 2021 (edited) Currently GCSC "tadpole" positioning is incorrect. When INS ground track is equal to INS calculated great circle path to destination the GCSC must be displayed coincident with FPM. Currently tadpole/FPM is not aligned in cases where steering error is zero. Instead tadpole/FPM is aligned when relative bearing to destination is zero. viper tadpole.trk Edited June 20, 2021 by Frederf 1
Florence201 Posted June 20, 2021 Posted June 20, 2021 What’s the wind at height? Has this affected tadpole placement? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Frederf Posted June 20, 2021 Author Posted June 20, 2021 This demonstration mission for the track had no winds (default weather). The displacement of the gun cross and FPM is due to the 4G banked turn. Regardless in the presence of winds the logic is the same. For example when traveling along track 090 with wind blowing from north the heading may be 085 for example. In that case the FPM, and diamond are at 090, gun cross and heading is 085, and GCSC is centered on the FPM. 1
