gonk Posted June 29, 2021 Posted June 29, 2021 It would be nice to have the F keys toggle to previous selection when pressed a 2nd time. e.g. If you are in 1st Person view, (F1), then you press F10 to goto the map. Just let me press F10 again, to go back to 1st Person. Saves having to move your hand and makes it more efficient. Thanks... Tom Kazansky Posted June 29, 2021 Posted June 29, 2021 Not a bad idea but some of the F keys already have a function when pressed more than once.

Exorcet Posted June 29, 2021 Posted June 29, 2021 (edited) I'm used to things as they are. If this is added, please make it a switchable option. I would disable it. Tippis Posted June 29, 2021 Posted June 29, 2021 Too many things have repeat-press functionality already to really make it something that can be applied universally. I can see the benefit behind the general concept, but it would probably be better if it was tied to a modifier key (Shift-Ctrl-whatever to return to previous view) but of course, that would defeat the goal you're after with it being much faster than to hunt for different keys, and it would also in large part be covered by the existing bind capabilities. Just bind every combination of (in this example) Shift-Ctrl-F1-to-F12 to the F1 view and you're done. Maybe if it was a toggle lock, which is sort of almost possible already, but not fully since it would require a dual-layered state binding. Eg. press caps lock (so you get a nice keyboard light indicator too ) and now F9 flip-flops between ship view and cockpit view… but then, how would you hop between different ships (or units in general)? It would almost have to be combined with a completely revamped unit browsing functionality so repeat presses no longer picks the next unit of a type… granted, that would be kind of helpful regardless. ❧ ❧ Inside you are two wolves. One cannot land; the other shoots friendlies. You are a Goon. ❧ ❧
