Hi all,

since 2.7, i've got an issue doing full alignement procedure.

Many times i've tried the procedure, i've got issue an when i select "NAV" on PSM at the end of alignement, i've got an amber "N.DEG"on UNI display with "HORIZON SECOURS" displayed on VTH.

When i take a look at 00 or 20 on prep, coordinate seems to be ok.

In some rare case, it works and everything goes well, but much of the time i've got this issue.

I've also tried a minimalist startup :

-battery+ groung elec

-Starting engine

-Selecting WP 20 on DEST

-Entering Coordinate of kneeboard position

-Entering Altitude,

-Pressing VAL

- When ALignement finished (green PRET), Setting on N , ans PSM on NAV

But, after that, if i perform a ALCM, procedure after the full alignement (and with issue), "N.DEG", and "HORIZON Secours" diseapear..... and everything can go further

Have got a bug or do i perform something wrong into procedure?

A.

Normal alignment should work as long as initial position isn't too far from actual and airplane isn't jiggled during.

I think memory alignment requires a cocked airplane. This would require doing a full alignment and then turning the system directly off. Then next align could be memory provided it wasn't moved. Memory shouldn't work after a flight. I haven't tried though.

EDIT: Yeah it does. Even a mission which doesn't have ALCM available will have it available if you cock your own jet.

EDIT2: ACLM works even if you move airplane between cocked heading and memory alignment 😕 it should fail

Hi,

@pognhekI don't understand you issue, could you post a track or a short video of the alignment you are doing ?

@FrederfFor your second edit: You are right and it's noted, we will come back to the INS failure, malfunctions, and emergency modes when other more important items are done.

HI myHelljumper,

Thks for your quick reply, I made this quick video with my minimalist startup.

Let me know if you want a complete startup as if i go to struggle for life!

In this video you can see symptons that are always the same independantly from my startup procedure (HORIZON SECOURS/No UNI)

Let me know if i'm doing something wrong, or if you need other video to test/characterize my issue.

Here is the video :

I found your issue, you are setting the PSM left knob to CAL and TST. This is what is screwing the INS.

I don't know if it's realistic yet, if it's not we will correct it.

So clever !

I've tried the sequence without going in the wrong way on PSM (my brain still not integrate the right sense to go) and it works!

After that i've tried to go on CAL/TST, and reproduce the issue!

Thks Mate, i'll be aware to go every time on the right way of PSM!

PS : is there a way to go out this issue if i put the PSM in the wrong way? ALCM?

I have the same issue but setting PSM to NAV does not heal it, neither does left click, roll to uncage. The power selctor is also in the middle.

I just need to start up battery (ground power on), put PSM to NAV and NORMAL, put on HUD and uncage (left mouse roll) - after a few seconds "horizin secours" appears!

The problem occured (I think) after I started the campaign and did the BASICS mission, before there was no problem.

Any ideas?

I know, the switch is in middle position. So this does not seem to be it. I will attach a video of my start-up procedure later today.

BTW.: it is the same problem in DCS world and also Beta version...

I think there is really a bug: I deactivated and deleted the Mirage via Module Manager and reloaded it. Went to campaign and everything works fine. Did the mission without problems. Then repeated it and guess what _ "horizon secoures"!

If horizon secours is probably indicates that your switch is set to the middle standby position and it is automatically selecting secours because the INS isn't properly aligned.

Demonstration of normal alignment, Instant action, Cold Start

Prepare

  • Ground electric power - ON
  • INS mode selector - VEI
  • INS prep switch - Press
  • INS keypad - Enter two-digit waypoint number: Press 2, 0
  • INS parameter switch - L/G
  • INS keypad - 5-7 digits of latitude: Press 1 or 7 for left initialize, N-4-2-5-2-1(-2-4), INS
  • INS keypad - 6-8 digits of longitude: Press 3 or 9 for right initialize, E-0-4-1-0-7-2(-8-5), INS
  • INS mode selector - ALN
  • HTB power switch - M
  • HTB brightness wheel - increase

Align

  • INS VAL button - Press
  • INS operation mode - STS to monitor alignment numerically
  • HTB - Observe changes in HTB display of attitude, heading, and velocity

Navigate

  • INS operation mode - N
  • INS mode selector - NAV directly clockwise and without hesitation in any other position
  • HTB - Observe for normal indication

In the procedure you are describing above, you don’t align. You need to align.

Thanks guy for your help. I have re-installed the Mirage gain and I am following diligently #Frederf procedure. (which I thought I did before, but then again...)

It works now and I have repeated the basics mission and t worked again, so I am confident that this is solved and I can move to the next bottleneck!

Thanks a lot, great support!

Greetings from germany
