peirof Posted July 3, 2021 Posted July 3, 2021 I am trying to configure the Hotas Warthog (Joystick and Throttle) in DCS. Until now, I DIDN'T USE TARGET, but to get more complex functions I need to use it. How do I proceed: 1- I run the TARGET Software, and create a profile where both the Joystick and the Throttle are included. 2- In that profile I configure it to my liking: first the sensitivity of the axes and dead zones, and then the assignment of axes and keystrokes to each button of the Hotas 3- In the TARGET Software, RUN CONFIGURATION. After a while, in which I suppose that I loaded the profile on both devices, a screen appears where I can test it ... I test it and everything goes as I wanted. 4- I open DCS, and in the configuration, a new virtual device appears, which corresponds to the Joystick and the Throttle. It is on this screen where I finish configuring the Hotas, especially axis assignment. 5- Everything works as configured ... From here the problems: 6- When I restart the PC, or close the Target program (in the background) and then reopen it ... 7- In DCS all the assignments have gone, I think because when restarting the TARGET software, it assigns another ID to this combination, and when I run DCS, it does not recognize it as the previous one It's quite frustrating spending considerable time setting up the controls ... for nothing. I suppose there is another way to do it. How can you configure the Joystick and Throttle with Target? (And that the configuration remains) Thanks
Frederf Posted July 3, 2021 Posted July 3, 2021 (edited) That is a problem. I use TARGET and don't have this issue or at least not with DCS. As long as the .diff.lua is saved then you should be able to load it using the "Load profile" buton and picking the desired .diff.lua. That doesn't solve having to redo it every time but at least binds all of the actions at once. It's possible to select a preference for a different .diff.lua than the default name. I just tried. In \Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Config\Input\TF-51D\joystick\ I have: Thrustmaster Combined {30D52460-DA71-11e1-8002-444553540000}.diff.lua pickles.diff.lua They are different and I picked "Load profile" and selected pickles.diff.lua. Then I closed and reopened DCS. On the next start it remembered that I had loaded pickles.diff.lua instead of the original one. That might help you to set up your controls, save the .diff.lua, then load that file which should set that filename as the preferred .diff.lua for your situation. I don't know where this preference is stored but it's possible is somehow not working right. Edited July 3, 2021 by Frederf 1
Archduke Posted July 10, 2021 Posted July 10, 2021 TBH I think TARGET is a huge pain in the backside. The only thing Gremlin can't do (and do better) is setting the LED states on the throttle. Since I fly exclusively in VR that's not a problem for me.
