Exorcet Posted July 14, 2021 Posted July 14, 2021 This issue pops up occasionally and I've never found a cause, I only know that exiting and restarting DCS usually fixes it. The problem specifically is that the game doesn't react to some key inputs. For example if I have RWR power set to 'P', sometimes I find that pressing P does nothing. Clicking the RWR power button works properly and if I check my bindings P is the only key binding for RWR on. Also if I mash the P key repeatedly it sometimes works after many presses. Or I can mash P while mashing other keys and this seems to increase the chance of DCS registering that I'm pressing P. I made a track for this specifically and I also noticed that when the problem key does register as being pressed in DCS it seems to act as if it's being held down, even if it's not. I see this because a key bound to a MFD display animates the buttons. See track. In the track I highlight a clickable element (first autopilot, then a MFD button) with the mouse and then repeatedly mash the button. Nothing really happens unless I mash other buttons. When I move to the MFD you can also see the button getting stuck until I click it (when a button does get stuck I stop mashing it). Flappie Posted July 15, 2021 Posted July 15, 2021 According to your track, we're talking about the F-16 module. If your issue pops up occasionally, maybe it's a modifier that is bothering you. It could be the CAPS LOCK key being active, any custom modifer set on a switch, or a default modifier pressed by something next to your keyboard (a phone on the LCtrl key, for instance). But then if it was a modifier, you would have issues with all the other controls. A better culprit could be the opposite order given inadvertently ("RWR indicator Control Power Button - Released" key pressed). ---
Exorcet Posted July 19, 2021 Author Posted July 19, 2021 Sorry that I missed your reply @Flappie I used the F-16 as an example but it happens with all modules. I don't have the opposite command bound at all for the RWR , and that again was an example, it effects many keys, but not all. Maybe 25-50%? It happened to me again in a recent online session. I first noticed when my gear would not retract, I had to click the lever in the cockpit. MFD commands were also unresponsive. I think my individual UHF and VHF radios didn't work, but I didn't realize at the time because the default easy radio worked and I figured the server was set to easy radio. Track attached (when I watched it, it worked until I landed, then the track breaks and according to it I veer off the runway and get stuck in the grass, but before that it seems accurate). Track file too large to attach. Exorcet Posted July 21, 2021 Author Posted July 21, 2021 Those are always the first thing I make sure to turn off when installing, and they weren't on in game, I didn't have the simple avionics overlay and the physics were working normally. Flappie Posted July 22, 2021 Posted July 22, 2021 Do any of your other keyboard bindings work when you're having the issue? or is the keyboard completely unresponsive ingame? ---

Maybe I wasn't clear enough before, but the problem is a seemingly random bunch of keys are affected by this problem whenever it happens. It's only some keys, not all. So in one instance my 1,2,3 keys may work fine but G, P, Z don't. A few days later the problem could happen again but 1,2,3 don't work and G,P,Z do. Although come to think of it I don't recall it ever affecting the F keys, but I might just be forgetting if it did happen. I'd guess around 25% of my keys become unresponsive, and only in DCS. I can tab out and type normally, but if I tab back into DCS then the problem keys won't work. I've tried rebinding when this happens and it doesn't fix it. I've also unplugged and replugged keyboard. I've even recently bought a new keyboard entirely and it still happens. Flappie Posted July 22, 2021 Posted July 22, 2021 That's wild. I have no idea what the cause could be... I suggest you open a support ticket. ---
Exorcet Posted July 22, 2021 Author Posted July 22, 2021 Thanks for investigating. I'll look into filing a ticket.
