Auger Posted July 29, 2021 Posted July 29, 2021 Been away from DCS awhile and recently got back into it. Today I decided to start learning the A10C. As I started setting up my HOTAS commands, I noticed that some of the control commands will not accept input. There are some blank spots in each category that will not accept keyboard commands, throttle commands and joystick commands. This looks to be the case with just about every module I own. I've been flying the A10A, the Huey and the Gazelle with no problems, but they were all setup almost two years ago, though even they have blank areas that I cant assign commands. What is the fix for this? I think I remember reading somewhere to remove the saved game folder, but doesn't this remove all my settings, missions etc???
Gumbie Posted July 29, 2021 Posted July 29, 2021 (edited) If its thrustmaster warthog it will rebind the keys automatic but you may have to change some key binds back the way you like. I also have to go through the process of resetting my bindings but hope fully after I set them up this time and save the profiles should be able just to drop tab and use profile to reset bindings. May also try using Rs Mapper to setup everything. Good luck sir. Edited July 29, 2021 by Gumbie
Auger Posted July 29, 2021 Author Posted July 29, 2021 Thanks Gumbie. I'm using a Virpil stick, Warthog throttle and VKB pedals. To be clear, some of the blocks within the controllers settings are dark and wont even open up when I double click on them. A search yielded two solutions (from quite a few years ago), one said to move the Saved games folder, another said to move the Config folder. Not sure which to try or if there's a newer solution. Also wondering if this will change all my graphics, VR settings, etc. If so I'll have to make note of all the settings so I can get them back up. Any help greatly appreciated.

Rename your Saved Games DCS folder (or the Config alone if you want) and let DCS create a new one. If not happy with the result, delete the newly created and rename your backup to the original name, no harm done and all is back where you started. Monitors: LG 27GL850-B27 2560x1440 + Samsung SyncMaster 2443 1920x1200, HOTAS: Warthog with Virpil WarBRD base, MFG Crosswind pedals, TrackIR4, Rift-S, Elgato Streamdeck XL. Personal Wish List: A6 Intruder, Vietnam theater, decent ATC module, better VR performance!
Auger Posted July 29, 2021 Author Posted July 29, 2021 Well renamed the Saved Games DCS folder. DCS created a new folder but I'm still having Control commands that I'm unable to pull up and assign a command, whether it be keyboard or HOTAS. As you can see in the attached screenshot, APU Off and APU Start will not allow me to open in the Throttle category and APU Start/Off will not allow me to assign a keyboard command or a Virpil Joystick button press. There are quite a few other commands in all the modules like this. Not sure what to try next. Any suggestions? Thanks
Munkwolf Posted July 29, 2021 Posted July 29, 2021 (edited) It's from some commands being defined or not in the device-specific LUA files for the modules you're having the issue with. Using A-10C APU Off as an example... Go to your DCS install folder, then Mods\aircraft\A-10C\Input\A-10C\joystick. In there you should see a bunch of LUA files. Open up 'default.lua'. Do a find in there and you should see the definition for 'APU Off'. That'll make it available for binding by joystick devices... unless there is a device-specific LUA available for the module, like... Open up 'Throttle - HOTAS Warthog.lua'. Do a find in there for 'APU Off' and it won't be in there (Thus it's not available to be assigned a key, thus being disabled in the controls screen) Possible easy solution for you is to just delete the 'Throttle - HOTAS Warthog.lua' file, then the throttle would fall-back to using the default.lua that has those bindings available. Or you could edit the Throttle lua to add the APU Off command into it. If you start doing custom binds by editing the files, I definitely suggest using Quaggles mod, which allows you to put your custom binds in your saved games folder so your edits don't get reset when updates are released. https://github.com/Quaggles/dcs-input-command-injector Edited July 29, 2021 by Munkwolf
