Sorry about this problem. Annoying for me as I had identified this before release and resolved it. I have responded in this forum under bugs. I repeat it below

“Hi, I am aware of this issue. It’s a current bug in the chinook AI. I had corrected this problem before release. Unfortunately for some reason ED did not issue the campaign with my latest files. I have highlighted this to them and they will be issuing in next update.

Sorry but this was out of my control.

You can either wait until the update or use the mission by pass facility for now.

Hope this helps

Badger633”

It’s disappointing as something important happens at the end of this mission for the story line. Hopefully the correct file without this problem will be released next update. Just glad I introduced the mission by pass system.

Hope you enjoy the rest of the campaign.

Hi Badger

loving the campaign so far! Just wondered what I’m doing wrong on 8 still. I take out the surprise f5’s then wingman says he’s hit and heads to land at the other island to the west. I do the visual and he carries on.

There is an sa6 there though that keeps firing at him (although somehow he’s immune). I took that out with my remaining Mav… He lands and a chinook lands but then what? I’m out of fuel and have to divert but the mission fails.

sorry, am obvs doing something stupid or have missed something!

Cheers, L4key

Hi

That's definitely not what is scripted. He should be heading back to the mainland.
Just so I can be clear are you sure the one you were following was your wingman.

First time this as happened and had no reports since last update.

Any other details you can tell me like where you and the wingman was after you took out the enemy aircraft, Is this the first time or did it repeat.

Will check it out.
Are you on open beta and are you on the ez A2A version

Thanks

EDIT :

I have checked it out  and 410 does go where he is supposed to. You must have killed the F5's to get the message that he has been hit. The only way I think this could have happened is if you had spent an unusually  long time taking out the F5's. This could then mean that 410's fuel  may have become too low to fly to the designated route.  Also if you had burnt quite a bit of fuel before the F5's 410 would have done likewise trying to keep up. Do you think this might have been the case? Try the mission again and see if you get the same result as I cannot reproduce this end.

I understand why the chinook ended up landing there and I will fix it for next update.

Thanks

Hi Badger

Did the mission again today and it worked perfectly so not sure what was up! (Simple A2A)

BTW how come some missions (like 8 ) I have unlimited weapons?

Thanks again - loving the campaign and the aftercare 😂

Hi

Glad your enjoying the campaign. 👍

Good spot, there is not meant to be unlimited weapons on this mission, it only occurs on the EZ A2A version, should be unlimited fuel which is right next to unlimited weapons 🤪. Lucky I had also given full fuel tanks.

All fixed now and will be in next update. Also checked all missions , it was the only one.

Thanks again

I played that mission yesterday (felt kind of weird to me for some reason you only can understand @Badger633 😂). I noticed one small bug still: when flying away from the airport where 410 "lands", I get locked by an SA-6. It lasts for maybe 15sec. I was flying over the mountain range, headed for the tanker at this point (standard campaign, not EZ A2A).

Feels like an ED/DCS core bug to me, for sure. I just thought I should point it out to see if maybe you can do something about it on your end (like deactivate all SA-6s once the player is headed back). I was definitely not in an area where the SA-6 should have been able to acquire a lock on me. I know there is such a bug in multiplayer (where your RWR lights up with locks because some other player is being targeted, even very far away from you) but never experienced this in SP.

Really good mission though. Those poor F-5Es made a very nice fireworks display after liberating the Batillus, I've never downed 4 planes so quickly. And the weather/time combo when taking off was truly breathtaking, nice job on that. 😉

Hi

Yes the SAM warning issue seems to be a DCS bug.  As you have suggested have now deactivated all SAMs  during that period. Will be in next update. Not sure if it will work have not tested it yet.

Working on an optional increased difficulty version of this campaign, free if you already have the campaign, should be in next update. Those F5's will then be a little more challenging 🙂

Always a difficult balance has how hard to make things  for pilots of varying ability. This is why thought to issue another version with added difficulty.

Glad your enjoying the campaign 👍

Didn't you say you were taking a break? 😛 I would enjoy a harder difficulty in some instances, although I also want to point out that I appreciate your campaigns right now because they don't require me to die-and-retry multiple times to complete missions. There is some challenge already (mostly because I can be quite thick when it comes to systems, and I don't fly the Hornet as often as I used to).

For mission 8, an idea would be to replace the F-5's with 4x F-4E or F-14A (to remain within what Iran actually operates) a little further away like 25-30nm but they have Fox1's and we would be only carrying 1x AIM120 and 6x 9X, meaning we have to survive somehow until the merge while avoiding Fox1's. Could be interesting.

This bug happened to me today (nov 03). I killed all the F5:s very quickly, so that's not the issue. I did send a "Engage bandits" command to my wingman before engaging the F5:s, but got no reply. It was the "increased difficulty" version.
