Hi all,

following a great post of pistolero992000, I created my own low cost force sensing MOD for the mighty Thrustmaster Cougar Stick. I designed the PCB and sent it to jlcpcb . The small board control enables some control on the resistor feedback.

More info in my blog

As someone who's looking for an affordable Cougar force sensor mod for a few years now, I read your blog (about a year ago I think?) with much interest and also left a like (👍) reaction back then, as you might have seen.

I also tried to use the reply function below your blog, but somehow that didn't work. I wanted to ask you if the mod was still working properly and if you'd consider selling these as kits.. So, I can ask you now 🙂

What's your verdict? Are you still satisfied with the result?

And now for the million dollar question (well, in fact the low budget question 😉) : Would you consider selling pre-soldered plug and play kits to those of us without the skills, tools and time to do this themselves?

Hi Sirrah,

thanks for the reply. After a bit of use the assembly is still in one piece, it is working ok (I still don't have the same response on X with respect to Y axis, as the pitch axis requires more force with respect to the roll one). I think it all depends on the way the screws tighten and to the gimbal geometry itself (one axis hinge is physically displaced with respect to the other).

I understand your point, not everybody has the skills, tools, time, interest in soldering, but there are already out there commercial options: if I recall correctly Vipergear has (had?) something similar, and Realsimulator provides it for the Warthog.

I believe this solution is great for home builders, but I don't want to change the scope of the original idea of pistolero992000, which made this board / MOD and made it available for free.

Moreover I don't see it as a sellable kit (there is still too much man hour / skills required to disassemble and mod the Thrustmaster Cougar Stick), and the result is much dependent on how this operation is done.

I totally understand you. And yes, it might even require people to sent you their Cougar (making the whole exersice pretty expensive already)

I'm not sure if the mod from Realsimulator is still available for the Cougar. I also checked out the far more cheaper Vipergear mod, but I've only read two reviews on that mod and one of them was not good at all.

I'll just wait for @rel4y's force sensor mod (you should check out his mod thread here on this forum). I have complete trust in his products/mods.
