"Road Trip" - Mi-24P HIND Low & Slow training (1 to 4 players)

Version 1.0.4 - Maintenance Update

 

Changes

  • increased convoy size to 12 units 
  • Better positioned player units
  • added some more static and dynamic scenery
  • Objectives Menu, removed silly grpUI debug code
  • added continuous pps 
  • added wind, because this mission never was easy 
  • added mission briefing and spash imagery 
  • improved start message 
  • added an "Observer" Huey

HI. Thanks for the mission, interesting one, as well as frustrating; 158 000 pts at the end! Quite close but quite far ! Good training, but I'd like to know wirch one of the convoy vehicle is the one to folllow, because some times you are over the convoy and the score is low and other times at the same distance the score is hight.

I recommend you pick to follow the fourth to eight vehicle so you can see where the convoy is heading, and how it changes speed. Your score is based on the closest vehicle in the convoy (it's constantly evaluated and automatically selected). So when you are following the third vehicle, and the fourth gets closer than you are to the third, you'll get scored for the smaller (better) distance.

 

One sneaky behaviour that may get you (when you get unexpectedly low score) is that the vehicles behind you (that up until a second ago) takes a detour (unseen by you) to not collide with you, and suddenly your distance increases with score dropping accordingly. 

 

Also: score raises exponentially by distance, so even 2 meters (6 feet) of distance can cause a jump of full 10 points (less when you are more distant). 

 

And finally, making it to the end is already a great achievement 🙂, congrats!

Version 1.0.5 - Feature Update

 

Changes

  • Cold start positions with transition to LZ
  • Civilian air traffic

 

Hot / Cold Starting positions

You can now choose to start the mission either with a hot, or cold/dark Hind. Note that multiplayer cannot mix/match hot and cold: all players must use a hot or cold Hind.

 

Hot

You start in a hot Hind, and the mission commences in one minute.

 

Cold

You start at Batumi in a cold Hind. Once you have started all Hinds, proceed to Batumi Harbor, at the NE edge of town to meet up with the convoy. The convoy starts getting rolling when your first Hind reaches the LZ (marked with orange smoke)

  • Convoy will start when Hinds approach, so they don't 10 minutes to un-park
