conura Posted August 27, 2021 Posted August 27, 2021 Hey all! I'm about to start learning the F-14, and I bought the Zone 5 campaign, Fear the Bones campaign, and I know the F-14 also includes a campaign. I was wondering, which order would it be best to tackle them in? I wonder if some are more geared towards being training campaigns etc? I like to generally save the best to last, so would prefer to start with the lowest quality campaign and progress to better ones, unless of course some of them are much easier. Thanks!
AH_Solid_Snake Posted August 27, 2021 Posted August 27, 2021 I'd probably tackle Zone 5 before Fear the bones, as it follows a neat kind of training to "real thing" process. There isn't really one campaign any harder than any others, and most are pretty good at giving variety. I usually only groan a little bit when we are throwing 38 million dollar F-14s into a contested environment to do unguided daylight bombing....it feels a little wasteful when there are good F-18s on deck. But it does break up the CAP and Sweeps. 2
Jayhawk1971 Posted August 27, 2021 Posted August 27, 2021 Personally, if I were starting out in the F-14 again, my fist campaign would probably be Heatblur's "Reforger" (Supercarrier version if you have that module). Gives you a nice mix of flying around the boat (CASE I and CASE III), easy AAR, and slowly eases you into the action. Then Zone 5 followed by Fear the Bones. Zone 5 will make you a better virtual Tomcat pilot, but you will have to follow proper procedures on top of getting used to the F-14 module. Also, since both campaigns by Reflected feature the A-model, your learning curve will be slightly higher (less thrust, and the chance of compressor stalls). Fear the Bones is a nice follow-up to Zone 5, as @AH_Solid_Snake already pointed out.
