How to activate AA missiles?

Curious what else needs to be done to activate AA sites>?

 

I have plopped down the built-in static templates for SA-11, SA-2, SA-3, and SA-6.

 

However when i fly my jet around there the radars stay folded up and nothing happens. I even waited a while but they all seem asleep. How are you supposed to get them do their thing?

Make sure the needed components are in the same group (SR, TR, Launcher, command vehicle, depends on each system).

 

Then all you have to do is to take an enemy aircraft and fly it into their range.

well i'm using the built in static templates. i assumed those were everything you need?

Yes, they should have everything you need to place them down.

 

All left is an aircraft of the enemy faction within range.

 yep i was the enemy. flew around them but nothing seemed to happen. no blips on my rwr. there's nothing else you need to do to make them "wake up"?

so i set OPTION -> ALARM STATE -> RED

 

and that seemed to do it. the radars popped up and spin around now.

i always thought they did that on thier own, or would be sneaky about it

They should do it automatically, normally.
