 There is. In the F10 map on the top there is a circle button called mark point. Select it and click anywhere on the map you want the mark point to be. Also the button to the right of it allows you to put text on it so when selected by another player they can read what you wrote on it.

Create a zone where you want the mark then use MARK TO ALL or MARK TO COALITION or MARK TO GROUP as desired.

 

You can also remove marks.

 

Here is an example I used to mark targets and remove them when destroyed.

Oh, not exactly what I was looking for, but that is useful! Thank you!

 

My thoughts are zones - no fly zones for example. But dang that can be VERY handy... I'm going to add that to a mission tonight!

you can draw an image of your no fly zone to put in the briefing images. 
 

Or you can create kneeboard images and insert them into the mission file.  

 

Mark points are great to mark a map object target ( bridge or building) and then remove the mark when the map object target is destroyed. You can use the same zone for the mark point and for the map object destroyed trigger.

These were added a long time ago but the syntax only became known recently. But you can draw shapes on the map. Limited to line, arrow, circle, quad, poly, and text.

There is a bug currently with quad where it can fail to shade in the whole shape, but you can see some examples I've made with it.
