Darkdiz Posted September 8, 2021 Posted September 8, 2021 Hi: I can't seem to get a grip on making my custom snap views EXACTLY what I want to see. I have TRACK IR, so looking around is not the issue. What I want to do is have specific camera positions bound to specific keys on my HOTAS, so when I hit the bound keys, the view goes to exactly what I want to see, steady, track IR not moving it around. For example, as a F14 RIO, the DDD is one of my main sensors. I would like to have a closeup, steady view of it bound to one of my POV hats (the coolie on the Warthog throttle works well for this). Another one would be the TID, looking from directly in front of it (most of the time it is difficult to see the data input buffer, I have to slump way down in my seat to see it). Wpns panel, ECMD, left and right horizontal cockpit panels would also be bound. How can I get this done? I have looked at some vids on the subject, but none seem to work. Looking for a step-by-step procedure. draconus Posted September 8, 2021 Posted September 8, 2021 I don't use it but can share this one: https://www.airgoons.com/w/DCS_Reference/Snap_Views After you have it configured just bind the keys/buttons to the created snap-views. 1 Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Quest 3 T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 F-14A/B F-15E CA SC NTTR PG Syria

marcwoolery Posted January 16, 2022 Posted January 16, 2022 I dont think I ever understood that you GET to SNAP VIEWS by pressing rt CTRL 0 ! oh my. Which allows you to press a num pad value to lock into a view ! whaaa ? Well I wanted to change a couple of them but I couldnt get a good camera position to LOCK on any view; Mouse wheel didnt work - PAUSE didnt work. - UNTIL i setup AXIS binding to Absolute Horizontal Shift Camera (and Vertical), to my CTRL + JOY STICK Axis (pitch and Twist) to move the cursor around the PIT and ZOOM or PAN the camera exactly. And discovered from this video that you could record and replace these Snap Views, using the magic keys. Who knew this first Id like to know. You really need to Slew the camera not just PAN like your sitting in the seat... you want it to move left and right and up and down (Absolute Horizontal and Vertical so called) So once yuo have the view setup, press WIN (num #)- then rt ALT 0. num # being the number of the SNAP view you wanna replace, ALT 0 to record it. BIIIG BLACK BOX. "...After you have it configured just bind the keys/buttons to the created snap-views. ..." Nothing to it 1
Darkdiz Posted January 16, 2022 Author Posted January 16, 2022 The bindings are SNAP views to whatever camera position you want. Remember though, you must disable any head-tracking you have, or you aren't gonna have much fun setting these up. I have them setup for my A-10C2 as well as my F14 RIO pit, they work like a charm. I use just the keyboard to move the camera to where I like it for a specific view, then hit RALT KP0 to save it. The I bind that view (LWIN whatever KP) to whatever button on the joy/thr I like (I have mine on the coolie hat, no modifier for the RIO, alt function for the A-10).
