TEMPEST.114 Posted September 10, 2021 Posted September 10, 2021 Hi. I couldn't find a dedicated Zone 5 section or thread so I'm guessing it's okay to post here? Anyway, I'm just starting to read the documentation and I'm looking at the departures and arrivals, specifically on a runway departure it says fly on a radial from a TACAN and then turn to intercept another radial from a DIFFERENT TACAN. But afaik there is only one tacan box in the aircraft so only one can be tuned to and used for navigation reference. I know there is a PILOT / NFO switch on the TACAN box, does this mean I can ask jester to tune and set BUT NOT SWITCH OVER to the 2nd tacan, and I as pilot can use that switch to flick between two of them, to ensure I'm flying accurately? Or how else is this done? Just get on the first radial, switch to flying a heading and then retune the TACAN and wait for that new radial and don't worry about drifting off the first? That seems terribly inaccurate to me. Thanks for any advice.
unlikely_spider Posted September 10, 2021 Posted September 10, 2021 There is a topic under the Reflected section of the forums. He's pretty good about responding to the topics under his campaigns: https://forums.eagle.ru/forum/797-f-14a-zone-5-campaign/ I assume that you can use the Jester Tacan as sort of a "standby" channel in order to switch to it quickly, but I've not tried that. It seems like it would work. 1 Modules: Wright Flyer, Spruce Goose, Voyager 1

Lt_Jaeger Posted September 10, 2021 Posted September 10, 2021 You got the possibility to set2 TACAN channel, one in the back and one in the front. Let jester set one, set the second and than you just have to switch who is in command of the TACAN. In zone 5 you fly VFR, so you will just follow runway heading via compass.
