B-17 Combat box: Bombers stacked vertically and bomb themselves

With a combat box of four groups of three aircraft each in "Big Formation" combat box, two aircraft in the left box position and two aircraft in the back box position are stacked vertically. Unsurprisingly the top aircraft destroys the bottom aircraft on their bombing run.

Was your formation "Open" or "Closed?" I think the "Open" formation is a workaround at the moment. One way or the other.

Closed. I can not get Open to work properly with the Big Formation trigger.
