Nahen Posted November 18, 2021 Posted November 18, 2021 As of today, only one game gives you the opportunity to combine ground forces - including infantry - with real support from aviation CAS where players are everywhere - i.e. infantry, vehicles, helicopters and airplanes. Unfortunately, the way of "scaling" the world, and thus the size of the maps, are insufficient to REALLY recreate the activities of aviation. And as for fun in DCS - those who are on the ground have something to do to reach the designated points and complete their tasks. Pilots who are to support them - if they want and like relane flying, they will also not be bored taking off at 10 o'clock, flying to the fighting area for another 40 minutes and then take the holding for up to an hour or two, waiting for a call from the ground. This is REALISM, not an hour long mission, including 60 minutes of continuous fighting with millions of enemies and attacking hundreds of targets on the ground. Sometimes missions lasting 3-4 hours in which you are not fighting are better than the "intense" ones. Therefore, there is no problem to combine it all in DCS, as long as the "engine" of the game - the development of ground units and their use by player would be properly elaborated. But I don't think it will happen too quickly, if it ever happens ... 2

Among other things like having a S&R helo pick you up, it appears to me that you are requesting more control over your pilot in first person. If that is not the case, then just a heads up, that is how your request comes across. Sorry If it came to you like that, my request was just the freedom to go in and out of your plane, no infantry or Full military aspects.
Callsign112 Posted November 21, 2021 Posted November 21, 2021 @Razorjet XII, no apologies needed. In my view though, adding/improving control of animated human figures whether it be a pilot going from the barracks to his plane at the start a mission, a downed pilot trying to be rescued, or an infantry unit walking on a road, the methods used to provide the control should be the same from the programmers point of view. It would still add work in terms of adding another unit to be animated of course, but the work needed to invent the wheel so to speak should only have to be done once. 1

I agree with that, I am pretty sure ED is developing a new AI system, I hope they will be improving the Pilot's textures too. 2
