hi

i just did a defrag (getting ready for 1.1 release) .

then i went to add some missions to lockon in the missions folder. and noticed that some dll an folder names were in blue font while others are black does black is normal does this mean my windows version is corrupt as they are normally black there are one or two in windows folder aswell but most are in ubisoft eagle dynamics. any ideas how to sort this or does it not matter to game or system stability

You have files that are being automatically compressed by XP..

There is a setting (somewhere) to turn it off.

Thanks,

I would stop compression since, XP now has to uncopmpress whenever that file is "touched", then recompress it afterwards...

It becomes a performance hit...

If you have a small drive this maybe a necessary evil until you can get

a larger HD.

Here's the skinny from M$

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;307987

To uncompress that driver/folder....

right click on desired object, choose properties.

click advanced (general tab).

It should be obvious from there..

Thanks,

Compression is a CPU/Disk trade off ... if you compress, you have to read less off disk, but then have CPU hit to decompress ... if no compression, you have to read more off disk, and that time can be significant ... so it depends of your setup ...
