Toni Carrera Posted October 22, 2021 Posted October 22, 2021 Hi Fellow Pilots, I, and my wingmen (F/A-18C) are flying, eventually through a trigger zone, where I want a group of A10C II's to activate and then go in to an 'Escort' mode, or I escort them, whichever When we get to a second trigger zone, I would like the A-10C II's to break from the 'Escort' and resume a waypoint routine, eventually ending up in an Search and Destroy mission with a certain radius Is this possible to do in the mission editor? Toni Carrera Posted October 23, 2021 Author Posted October 23, 2021 Actually, I am going to re-ask this question; 1. I have 2 x F/A-18C, me and AI wingman 2. Late Activation A-10C II x 4, all AI obviously. They have their waypoints all laid out for the, including attack specific units along the way 3. When the 10's activate, I want them to follow me until I get to my WP3, which is also right next to their WP3 4. Once I get to my WP3, or they get to theirs, or even a trigger zone, I want them to split away from following me, and resume their WP path from WP3 onwards, and just do as instructed from their own WP path Does that make sense?? Exorcet Posted October 23, 2021 Posted October 23, 2021 AI can't follow players, so having the A-10's strictly follow you won't happen. Something you can do is set the waypoints where you want close flying to be based on time for you and the AI. Then it will just be a matter of following the flight plan. An alternative might be to have an AI copy of your F-18 flight fly the same route as you. The A-10's should be able to follow them since they're AI. Rokkett Posted October 24, 2021 Posted October 24, 2021 Not true - AI aircraft can definitely follow a player aircraft. 1. For the A-10 group, under the triggered actions tab, add a new action: Perform task -> follow -> name of your group -> specify distance/elevation/interval you want them to fly from your group. Then click on "stop condition". Here you need to specify a condition that will stop the A-10s from following you eg. a flag number, or time duration. 2. Add a new action under the triggered actions tab of the A-10 group: Perform command -> switch waypoint to WP3 (in your case). Then you need to create the rules that will trigger the above actions. Eg: Trigger 1: when your aircraft enters a particular zone, the A-10s are activated. Trigger 2: When the A-10s are in a particular zone, select "AI Task Push", scroll down to A-10 group "Follow" your aircraft group. When the above conditions are met, they should then start following you and try to attain the distance/elevation/interval parameters you specified earlier. Note, you will have to be close enough and flying slow enough for the A-10s to catch up to you in your F-18 within a reasonable distance and time. Next you want to specify the conditions for when you want the A-10s to stop following you, and resume their assigned flight plan. Eg. Trigger 3: your aircraft reaches a particular trigger zone: 1. set "Flag on" (the flag that you specified in the above "stop condition". 2. AI task push -> A-10 group "switch waypoint 3" The A-10s should now stop following your aircraft and resume their flight plan towards their WP3. Hope this makes sense.
Toni Carrera Posted October 24, 2021 Author Posted October 24, 2021 Thank you Rokkett, Off to try this right now, it is only slightly different to what I was trying, but the extra bits might just tip the balance I thank you for your detailed response Toni Toni Carrera (Ice Rhino) ThrustMaster HOTAS Warthog Throttle & A10C Stick, ThrustMaster F/A-18C Stick, ThrustMaster TFRP Pedals, ThrustMaster Cougars x 2, fitted to CubeSim USB Screens, TrackIR 4 Active LED & Cap Reflector, Stream Deck XL Intel® Core™ i7-5820K 12 Core Processor, 32GB RAM, 1 x 500GB SSD, 2 x 256GB SSD, 1 x 1TB SSD 4 x 4TB Western Digital Mechanical. 2 x ASUS GTX 1080's SLI, ASUS 29" Ultrawide flanked by 2 x 22" IPS Monitors
