DCS 2.7 Openbeta CTD on Starting Visualizer

Hi All,

I recently starting experiencing constant crashes after 2.7 landed.  This always occurs in the same place.  The first load on a mission goes ok.  Then after clicking Start, the second load starts and crashes when the progress bar shows Visualizer Start Simulation.

This happens on the medium default graphical settings.  It happens on PG and Syria maps.  I have not tried Caucuses yet.

Attached are two files.  The latest log as well as a simple mission that I try to load.  Crashdumps also included.

Machine specs:

Ryzen 7 5800x

MSI x570 mobo

16GB (I'm suspecting this is not enough for the maps, but then again it worked before 2.7.  And it should be enough for the medium default settings)

12GB 3060RTX

DCS is installed on a Samsung Pro 870 SSD

I have also tried a full reinstall including deleting the DCS folder in Saved Games.  Using the Steam version.

This is a video card driver error. Try going back to the previous version. In case of failure, reinstall the driver from scratch. If the video card has overclocking (possibly factory overclocking), remove it. You can also find some tips on our website:

Hi Maximov,

Thanks for your reply.  I downgraded the Nvidia driver using DDU down to 472.12.  It seems to have done the trick.  No more crashes or issues so far even on higher graphical settings.

Hi,

So I am having this same problem since the last DCS update two(?) days ago.

I have tried reinstalling the latest video driver and then tried rolling back to the previous version....still crashes every time!

The frustrating thing is it was fine yesterday????

Hi,

Please delete all unofficial modes, rename the C:\Users\user\Saved Games\DCS folder in any name (Temp, for example - it will be backup), then start the repair.

Thank you. Got DCS running again. Trying to find which mod is causing the crashes.....

Can't find one specific reason causing the crashes.

However, as an example, this mission still causes my system to crash with the new Saved Games/DCS folder:

This campaign was created three months ago. During this time, ED released 8 updates. But mods authors do not have time (or forget) make changes to the program code. As a result, the DCS can work incorrectly.

So I did a full/slow repair and then managed to fly the mission.....

I returned to the main menu and then tried to fly it again and it crashed.

Third time worked fine

Your crash seems to always happen when integrity check fails to validate "textures/mi_8_tex_roughmet".

Please try this:

1. Delete this file "F:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Bazar\World\textures\MI-8MT.zip".
2. Then run a DCS repair.
3. Then try to reproduce the crash. If it keeps happening, please attach your newest log file. We'll get to the bottom of it.

Hi again,

So flew mainly multiplayer at the weekend (in the Mi-8).

Reasonably stable in vanilla and even with a couple of HD cockpit and ground texture mods.

Suffered two DCS crashes (and in the 8  ), but these were different to before: before, the game crashed immediately on entering the 3D environment.

This time I had been flying for a period of time and then all of a sudden the game simulator freezes.

Logs attached. 

Would be keen to understand what's causing it as my DCS build has been rock solid until now....

If in your first reports the game crashed due to errors in an unofficial mission for the Mi-8, now the graphics card driver is failing.

Perhaps the reason is still the unofficial mods you have installed. Does the game crash without unofficial mods?
Perhaps the cause is in the video card. Does the video card have overclocking? At what frequency is the GPU and video card memory running under load? What is the core temperature when the DCS is running?
Try lowering the graphics settings of the game Is there a crash in the single player game?

Wow... thank you Sir.

I have a few things to work on 

Initial thougts:

- Yes, graphics card is moderately over clocked but never had MSFS crash on me and temps are reasonable ~50-55 degrees C

- The BIOS is a surprise, need to rectify that

- Also, reverted back to an earlier graphics driver to try and solve the original issue....will update now that that issue is resolved.  

More testing required.....
